MM5 thinks device is a new device every time

MM5 thinks device is a new device every time
I have a Garmin watch that I load music to from MM5. Worked well for a long time. I recently had to reset the watch. Now, every time I connect it, MM5 thinks its a new device and wants me to set up a new configuration. The existing content on the device then has to be completely erased and everything reloaded. The device name in MM5 used to be "Forerunner." Then MM5 dubbed it "Forerunner (1)," then "Forerunner (2)" and now I'm up to "Forerunner (11)." Also, although I can transfer song files, the playlists don't transfer. I've updated to ht latest stable release. What on earth is going on? If anyone can help, big thanks. --- mb

Can you please try again with the latest MediaMonkey 2024 build?

Re: MM5 thinks device is a new device every time
Thanks for the reply. I installed MM2024 and tried again a few times. Still have the same behavior (although, oddly, one time it did successfully transfer one of the three test playlists). I also tried manually deleting everything on the device's storage that was in any way related to music files or MM. That didn't help either.
BTW, MM now has configurations for all these iterations of the device from "Forerunner (1)" to whatever number I'm up to. Is there any way to delete al of those configurations?
Thanks again for any help.

Use the 3 dots icon to be able to remove a device.
Please capture the connecting and creating of a new Device Profile in a debug log (step 4b) and attach the log to a Support Ticket: viewtopic.php?t=86643
You can also capture the failure of the Playlists to Sync.

Re: MM5 thinks device is a new device every time
This is really lame, but I can't get DebugView to work. It worked the first time I ran it and then I wanted to get a cleaner log so I tried again and it won't log anything. I'm using the debug version; I'm starting DebugView first; I ran it as administrator, and nothing. I even uninstalled MM2024debug and reinstalled. Power cycled a bunch of times. No log.

Maybe it's still running? A new instance won't capture anything in that case. Can you try a PC restart and then try again?

Double check if you really running the debug version. In MediaMonkey, Press Help Button, and see if the latest option in that menu has a Debug submenu.
And make sure debugvwr is setup properly:
1. it should name your pc name in the tilebar.
and make sure all circled options are enabled under tab "capture":

I am using MediaMonkey on my Retro Systems, using the latest Beta build on Windows 11. Managing ~54k files

I got the logger to work. "Capture Win32" was not checked. I submitted a help ticket with the log file. Thanks for helping me get that done. -- mb
