This may or may not be relevant to your case, but I had exactly the same issue with both MM5 and MM2024. I eventually tracked it down to some weird interaction between MM, my 3rd party firewall (ESET) and a Hyper-V Virtual Switch I had configured on my box from some software development a few years ago, which seems to have caused mDNS responses to be lost to MM.

After I removed Hyper-V from Windows on my PC I was able to see my Google Nest Mini and Chromecast Audio in MM2024 and MM5, although MM2024 streams more reliably than MM5.
