MM2024 Music listing using columns intended for TV

Post by niggle »

Just updated to MM2024 and noticed that my library listing for 'Music/All files' (Music type) is displaying the columns that I've selected for Series/All videos (TV type) instead.

So instead of Title, Artist, Album Artist, Album, etc., it's showing Title, Director, Screenwriter, Season#, Episode#, etc.

I can manually change the columns displayed, but when I close and re-open MM, it reverts to the wrong columns.

The columns are automatically set based on the Media-Type.
The “Type” of a track is written to the database during scanning.
If you select all affected files in MM and change them with “Properties > Type: ‘Music’, you will automatically get the desired columns.
When scanning (File > Add/Rescan...) make sure that the media type is set to automatic. If this does not work properly, you may have to select the desired type manually.

Thanks, but Type = Music already for all these library entries, and the scan is set to use Music manually as well

What did you update from and do you still have the old database from that version?

You'll need to manually adjust the columns to fix this.

I updated from the previous latest release, 5.something, I don't recall the full version number. I didn't manually save the old database, so I assume that's overwritten?

I did manually adjust the columns, but my issue is that those changes don't stick. After closing then re-opening MM, the columns revert to a set that look intended for Type = TV, not Music.

Please capture the launch of MediaMonkey, the changing of some columns, the close and then subsequent launch where it reverts the columns in a debug log (step 4b) and attach the log to a Support Ticket: viewtopic.php?t=86643

The columns are automatically set based on the Media-Type.

Except occasionally they're automatically set incorrectly. That's the issue.

Sometimes (not always) on a restart, the columns change as described. I can change them back manually, but it keeps happening. All the affected files are of Music type. It happens for the columns for Music/All files, and Music/Albums.

I have other Film/TV Series files that are listed under Films/Series in the tree as you'd expect, and they seem to behave.
