Autoplay at Startup

Post by martialartsguy »

I used TweakMonkey for a long time, but it kept giving me problems, so I just install it sporadically to do a backup of my database and ini files. The thing I loved about it was that I could automatically start playing MM at full volume when I started it. Is there a way to do this without TweakMonkey?

Thanks-

What kind of problems? I'm also using TweakMonkey and I have unselected every options in it except the "Resume State/Position at startup" function. Works great. If MM was playing when I closed it, it will play next time I open it.

If you right click on the shortcut you use to open MM and click properties. In the file path add " /play" to the end. This switch tells MM to play at startup, no script necessary!

Have you tried my Backup script?

Wow, thanks for the replies! The problem I had with Tweak was when shutting down - it would hang and then give an error message. But again, I used it mainly for the backup, so Trix- I'll give your backup script a shot. It'd be nice to have a total backup all the time, as I change a lot of stuff every time the Monkey's open.

Tried to add "/play" at the end of the following Target:
"D:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\MediaMonkey.exe"

but I get an error message saying the path is not valid. Any hints?

Oh, and I've added with "\" instead, both before and after the " but I still get the same errors.

Put it outside of the quotation marks, like that:

["C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\MediaMonkey.exe" /play]

About the Backup script: If you loose for good (& without reason) some directories on your hard disk when you close Mediamonkey, know it's because of that script... It happens to me twice.

Eyal-

After looking through the thread for Trixmoto's Backup script I made sure I created an Output folder that was separate from anything to do with MM. I think that may be what caused your directories to disappear. Of course, I'm no script writer so I may be wrong. You may want to check in the thread for that script.

You may be right. Anyway I do by backups manually.
Thanks

@martialartsguy - I'm glad you like the script, I use it every day (on shutdown in fact) and wouldn't be without it.

@Eyal - the latest version has lots of checks to ensure that folders are not deleted unless you want them to be.

@ Trix, thanks for the advise. But 2 weeks ago I downloaded and use your last version of Backup script and I lost all my C:\ root directories beginning from "A" to "C". "C:\Batch" was containing all my batch and cmd files, and I miss it...

It don't really matter, nothing real important was deleted. I recently bought an external hard disk and use the provided software to do backups of all my precious files - like Mediamonkey & all my music
