Re: MediaMonkey Process running after shutdown
Are you sure that there is no access issues with mediamonkey.m3u and mediamonkey.ini?

Re: MediaMonkey Process running after shutdown
one thing you can try its not dealing with monkey at all. it does not help find the bug,Madarb wrote:And yes, it still continues.
Tried playing with Backup for a bit, nothing happened, the same stuff all over.
It seems like every solution lasts only for a short amount of time and then goes back to the usual.
Any other suggestions?
I'm kinda pissed off that every time I have to shut it down manually and lose my playlist.
it should fix your trouble. it does on mine.
go to http://www.majorgeeks.com search there for " RegScrubVistaXp " as the name says its a reg cleaner that works on vista and xp.
now stop thinking i'm saying to clean the registry,
sure if you need to do so.
but that program has some tweaks on it. one of which is one that will close hung programs. turn that tweek on and reboot the computer to make sure windows sets that tweak. then try monkey and see if indeed it is a hung program if it still has the mediamonkey.exe listed in the taskmanger after you close monkey then you know for sure monkey is doing something with the database. if the monkey is not still in the taskmanager then we know it was being hung by something. if it is hung let us know there might be some other tweak i could find to fix it.

Peke: access issues meaning?
I am the sole user of the computer, admin, so no problems there.
And there never were up to this point, and I've a MM user since v2.
Rovingcowboy:
Thanks for the tip, but this program doesn't seem to have something about hung applications.
It does have an option for non-responsive, but it refers to system shutdown, not their own shutdown.

Re: MediaMonkey Process running after shutdown
rovingcowboy, no worries.
A little update: I think I narrowed it down to something that has to with the tray icon.
I tried this:
Open MM, shutdown. works
Open MM, minimize [customized to go to microplayer by default], then shutdown from there. fails
Open MM, minimize, maximize again, close. works too
So I guess that for some reason the problem appears when dealing with the tray functions.
I really hope this is a bug of some sort that can be fixed, and not some nasty random vista behaviour.

well there is one worry you got. cause here on xp pro sp3, i do your second one above going to the microplayer.Madarb wrote:rovingcowboy, no worries.

the tray icon goes away. i can right click on the microplayer in the taskbar and get the tray icon menu on which i can click exit. and it closes. i then can go back to the shortcut and start monkey again. it opens in the microplayer. i can then right click on it and get the restore menu and restore it to full screen the tray icon shows up again.
if you cant do that then its either vista or maybe you got hit by some sort of virus that only got part of its mayhem caused before it got caught.

Re: MediaMonkey Process running after shutdown
I had this problem when having the backup script run at shutdown. When I set it to run at startup of MM, I no longer had this problem.

Re: MediaMonkey Process running after shutdown
rovingcowboy, I can of course do that, it's just that when I tray-minimize it,
that's where the trick happens and causes it to stay alive after death.
nohitter151, I tried uninstalling Backup alltogether.
Strangely enough, even though I had both auto-backup options unticked,
the bug continued to happen. Now that it's uninstalled, it does seem
to shut down eventually. We'll see about that though....

Re: MediaMonkey Process running after shutdown
Yep, as expected, even with Backup totally gone, the problem remains.
I really think that it's a nasty bug having to do with the microplayer...
Were can I file a bug report of sorts so the devs will know about this?

Re: MediaMonkey Process running after shutdown
Try to get a debug log as described in the stickied thread in the bug reporting forum. Though I have to say, I can't reproduce your problem here, closing from any player works fine. Do you have any other addons/scripts/extensions/plugins/etc?Madarb wrote:Yep, as expected, even with Backup totally gone, the problem remains.

Re: MediaMonkey Process running after shutdown
Actually I was trying to do the debug procedure, when I found something bothersome:
For some reason the setup of the debug.exe could not complete,
there seemed to be some problem with MMHelper.dll, some other process was sitting on it.
So I used Unlocker as I usually do, and found out that ntvdm.exe was using it.
I searched online and found it is a MS Virtual Machine of sorts,
but still have no clue whatsoever as to why it was running on a dll.
So anyway, I tried killing that process and checking out the normal procedure I used
to reproduce the bug, and it seems that now MM closed down normally.
I will keep testing it for a bit and return with news.
In the meantime, anyone care to explain what ntvdm was doing with the MM dll?

Re: MediaMonkey Process running after shutdown
As expected that didn't do the trick either.
Will look into the debug stuff in a few days, till then, I took a look into MMHelper.dll
and it seems it is used by explorer.exe, MM.exe, utorrent.exe [!!!] and dwm.exe.
What is this dll anyway?

Re: MediaMonkey Process running after shutdown
I had the same problem.
The program remained in the Process Manager.
My solution.
Delete the plugin "d_WMDM.dll".
But why this Plugin? I tried the error to 3 PCs to reproduce. no success.
I hope that help you.
