sync without download

I have MM 5 on my laptop and music files on Synology NAS.
I use MM 5 to sync my iPod connecting it to the laptop.
To that end can I avoid to download files from Synology NAS to the laptop?
Once I could do it but after a MM update I am no longer able.
Indee, when add files to the libraty they are download to the laptop.
Do you have any suggestion to avoid it?

Make sure you scan the files from the network share on the NAS.

Do not scan from the Media Server (DLNA) on the NAS or access the NAS from Devices & Services.
