I've been seeing this behaviour for the last couple of releases.
I usually have MM running in the background, occasionally using the keyboard media controls to advance to the next song the playlist (~21K songs).
A lot of the time when I open MM to see what track is playing I find the Playing tab isn't set to the current track.
This behaviour happens when I just let MM do it's thing as well without any interaction from me.
It seems very similar to https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=17641
It seems to be very random.

Re: Bug: Playing doesn't scroll to playing track
Are you referring to the Playing window, or the Preview window set to the Playing tab?

Re: Bug: Playing doesn't scroll to playing track
Hi George,
Assuming you're referring to the 'Playing' list in the right column and/or the Playing list that displays when clicking the 'Playing' node, I just tested it and it seems to be working correctly.
Could it be that you selected a track in the playing list? If you select a track then playing-auto-scroll is disabled until something outside the playing list is selected--this prevents playing-auto-scroll from scrolling after you've selected a track in the list because you want to perform an operation on it.
Thanks!

Re: Bug: Playing doesn't scroll to playing track
Hi Rusty,
nope. MM5 is playing in auto mode.

Re: Bug: Playing doesn't scroll to playing track
What do you mean by "auto mode"? The autoscroll feature of Playing list is disabled, if you had last focus/selection in Playing list, no matter if AutoDJ is active or not.
Re: Bug: Playing doesn't scroll to playing track
Rechecked on the latest 5.0.3 Release Candidate and it works as expected. The Playing window auto-scrolls to the playing file on start of playback of the file.
You may want to retry with 5.0.3 (now or with final release).

Hi Rusty,
I think I've figured out the sequence of events:
I think I've figured out the sequence of events:
- Start MM, start playing
- At some point, select current track and delete it
- MM5 starts playing the next track in the list, and stays there
- Click play button restores tracking behaviour
Re: Bug: Playing doesn't scroll to playing track [#19088]
Hi,
I am not able to replicate, for me it behaves as designed.
Steps I used to test in 2626:
1. Start MM, start playing in the middle of playlist (mine atm contained 300 tracks)
2. Select current track and delete it from playlist only (not from Library and PC)
3. Leave MM playing deleted track and scroll to beginning of playlist
4. Switch to Playing view and scroll up to beggining
5. Close right panel and select any tree node
6. MM5 starts playing the next track in the list
7. Switch back to Playing tree node and playing track is focused
8. Reopen Now playing (Right panel)
9. it do not show focused track Rusty bug #19088
10. Any Media Key or track advance in playlist focuses Now Playing also (Which is not in focus anymore as MM was idle)
Only thing for me it that is questionable is why MM assume that by scrolling Now Playing should assume you want to edit Now playing as scroll to current do not happen if now playing is in focus and restoring right panel bring it to focus.
TEST NOTE: If I do not close Right panel then current track is focused normally.
Have I missed something or have done something different?
