MM5 bug in playlist sorting

Post by eingel »

I'm trying to apply my favourite sorting scheme to playlist view (List by album), so I add "Album artist", "Date", "Album", "Disc#" and "Track#" -- same as I do in the "Entire library" view.

I click "Save" but sort does not happen.

It also happens when I create my own view: I apply the same sorting scheme, but it's not saved.

Why is it happening? Am I doing something wrong? Why is it working fine in the other views, such as Library etc?

Are you trying to Save the new order of files on the Playlist or trying to save the new order for the View settings?

View settings.

I create a new view (based on "List (by Album)"), set my sort fields and click OK.

When I open again the View settings and edit my custom view template, there's only one sorting level (Album A-Z)

Please use MMW 5.0.4.5626 Alpha
A similar view and sorting for playlist:

Super fast reply, thanks 8)

I have 5.0.3.2627 and the sorting of auto-playlists already seems to work fine.

Would be nice to have some sorting scheme for manual playlist too, independent from the order of insertion (column "#")

Maybe in a future version...?!? ;)

Please update to the current alpha version (link is in my signature)

Manual playlists are static. If you add a song, it will be placed at the end of the list.
You can change this later:

You can also manually move the entries up or down.
Hold the entry with the left mouse button and move it to the desired position.

Thanx, super kind reply :)

I think the "Configure View: Playlist" should NOT have a "Sorting" section because it's misleading (in fact you cannot save it)

Do you agree?

Thanks for your support!

"Do you agree?"

Correct - this is possible for auto-playlists.

Not sure I understand Playlist -> View Options do not have Sort option.

Correct - this is possible for auto-playlists.
Auto Playlists do not have sort Option and for playlist you get save button only when you change Sort order

FYI For Auto-Playlists, a correct sort is set inside Auto-Playlist EDIT like this:
