MM4 can't write to iPad

Post by kvon »

From the info I've read on the MM knowledgebase, these should all be compatible versions to sync MM on my PC to the iPad - but no, when I plug in the iPad MM gives me a message saying the iPhone firmware is not compatible with this version of MM, and I will be able to view the device but not write to it. I am running the following - can someone tell me why this isn't working?

• MM 4.1.31.1919
• iPhone Sync Plugin for MM4 15.0
• iPad iOS 15.4.1
• iTunes 12.10.11.2

Thanks,

Hi,
For Latest iOS/iTunes versions it is suggested to use MM5 https://www.mediamonkey.com/download taht test compatibility with latest Apple products.

As for MM4 you need to install https://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/brow ... c-plug-in/ in order to get support for iOS 15.
NOTE: You need to start MM4 using Right click -> Run As Administrator -> Tools -> Extensions -> ADD -> Browse to downloaded plugin and install it.

Thanks Peke,

I did install that plugin (item #2 in my list above).

According the knowledgebase article:

https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... atibility/

"...Apple Sync Plugin (for MediaMonkey 4) add compatibility with iOS 15 devices"

So this plugin should be working. But I can't write to the device...

Been a while since I looked at MM5 but there was something that gave me pause about doing the upgrade. I'll bite the bullet on the upgrade if I have to but would like to understand first why this current setup isn't working when all documentation I've found indicates that it should be fine.

Thx,

OK, problem solved - partially. I missed the part about "run as administrator". I installed the plugin again and now it works - almost - it syncs the music files but not the podcast files. I just spent 45 minutes searching the web - there are apparently some other settings needed in iTunes (or MM?) to get podcasts to sync but EVERYTHING I found for both iTunes and MM seems to be for a different version than what I'm running (i.e. all the how-to steps don't align with what I'm seeing in my apps). Any suggestions?
