MM5 hangs when attempting to import a 1.7 TB library [#19263 ]

Post by sundiegojc »

MM5 version is 5.0.4.2655

MM5 hangs when attempting to import a 1.7 TB library. (screen goes white). This is repeatable and is not resolved by letting the import run overnight.
Windows task manager shows low memory and CPU use for MM5 once it hangs.
The library is spread across 17 sub-folders.
This same library is imported reliably and quickly by MM4

If I add the individual sub-folders 1-2 at a time, I can eventually add the entire library (but that is unnecessarily tedious)

Platform is Win 10, i7 3GHz, 16 GB RAM

Hi,
There must be some files that make MM scan problematic.

I would suggest that you open support ticket and supply us with Zipped debug log as described here https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 30&t=86643

If any files are "problematic", then it is an issue with MM5, not MM4, which imports the same files flawlessly.
No log is generated by MM5 debug mode.
You already have my OS and hardware info.

I would ignore the comment about the "problem" file.

  • start the Dbgview.exe program mentioned in the link supplied by LowLander
  • it opens a window, and sits there listening for a Debug version of MM5
  • start MM5 ... after a small delay you will see lines being logged into the window opened by the previous step
  • run the MM5 import which is failing for you
  • when MM5 crashes (goes white) go to the Dbgview window, and save the log file that it has accumulated
  • zip up that log file, and attach it to a MM Support Ticket

I just received an email today (July 17th) from MM stating that "" received a new reply by Barry4679 since your last visit to "MediaMonkey forum"

That is incorrect. No new most by Barry4679 has been posted. My post on Friday July 15th at 6:30 AM is the most recent.

Was my fault. I posted asking how you were getting on with the problem, but then noticed that the interval was almost all weekend, so I deleted the post several seconds later.
