Stability

Post by blopplop »

Love the look of mm5. But.... every new build is pretty consistently worse than the last. Wish I could be more specific. It just crashes constantly and gives me the option for safe mode, cont, etc,. Safe mode is deadly. Fills up the screen with some white looking gobbly gook. Don't know what it's suppose to be.

MediaMonkey_5.0.4.2667
MediaMonkey_5.0.4.2665
MediaMonkey_5.0.4.2663

are the worst. Older versions have been more stable on my machine.

It sounds like MM5 is crashing for you.
You have a strange situation, ... ie. this is not the general experience ... no general reduction in MM5 stability.

To diagnose your situation they are going to need some info from your system at the point where this happens.
See item 4.b here.
As explained there, you are going to have to download a small diagnostic program, which you start before starting MM5.
It sounds daunting, but it is quite simple.
Want a dark skin for MM5? This is the one that works best for me .. elegant, compact & clear.

i just downloaded the debug version. Truthfully, there is no discernible pattern I can see. Very random. I'll send a few debug reports and we'll see what happens next.

Hi Dave,

fyi, build 2670 has a couple of stability fixes.

Also, there are a couple of stability issues that we're still working on:
https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=19441
https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=19442

If you're seeing something else, we'd really appreciate it if you could open a ticket on our helpdesk and send a debug log + crashlogID and any other relevant details.

Thanks so much!

I've gone back to MM 5.0.3.2627.

5.0.4.2673
5.0.4.2667
5.0.4.2665 etc... are all too unstable overall. Intermittent crashing when moving from folder to folder within MM tree. I've sent numerous debug thingy's. I'll wait and try 5.04 versions later.

BTW, just so I don't seem all negative-- I LOVE MM 5. The look to me is excellent. I've been using MM for at least 12 yrs.

Hi blopplop (love than username),

The only unresolved crash in 5.0.4 RC3 (build 2675) that we're aware of/working on, is related to UPnP casting.

It would be really helpful if you could replicate the problem you're seeing with that build, submit the crashlogs using the debug build and share the crashlog IDs in this thread.

Thanks!

Please capture this in a debug log (step 4b) and attach the log to a Support Ticket: viewtopic.php?t=86643

This will help a developer analyze why this happens on your setup.
