It looks like I was updated to Version 2.0.0.1060 today. My ability to Cast (Chromecast) is disabled.

Is this intentional or a bug?

fyi build 1061 was just released to beta on the Play store (it'll take a few hours for it to go live).

It includes more stability improvements, fixes to various intermittent playback issues and a fix to a permissions issue affecting some devices/environments. Here's the full list of changes.

How do I sort albums by release year to have a list of albums by year?

Sorting isn't implemented yet. We're planning on adding it to 2.0.1 (our focus for the next few weeks is on fixing bugs). Hopefully you can wait a bit longer for that.

Sorting podcasts by date order when playing is my number one wishlist item for MM Android. I would say it is essential for podcasts - the current alphabetic sorting makes it impossible to listen to serials except by choosing each in turn, which is not practical when driving.

Other than that, 2.0 just looks nicer than 1.x and runs well. Not seen any other issues yet, but I mainly use it to play podcasts in the car.

fyi, we released a beta 1072 to the Play Store on March 11th and a subsequent Beta 1073 (it's actually our Release Candidate) on March 14th. These 2 builds include the following changes.

Google has indicated to us that it's now normal for approval to take up to 7 days so hopefully build 1073 will appear on the 21st or soon afterwards.

Yeah, Google restarts the 'approval timer' if a new build in posted prior to the previous build being approved. We're thinking of possibly switching to manually installed builds for future betas if these delays persist.

Update:

Google has indicated that they've escalated the issue (of the approval delay) and are 'working to resolve this issue ... as soon as possible'.

Hopefully the RC will be available very soon...

No 1072 or 1073 for me.

Something is definitely funky wrong at Google.

My Samsung S20 is at 1071.. my Samsung tablet S6 is at 1068. Both devices are running Android 13

Neither devices show no indication of any updates available for MM2.

I just got 1073 at 6:18p EST [Boston]. I restarted my phone. I don't know if this has anything to do with it?

Yes, Google approved build 1073 today! They indicated that they made some changes, so hopefully this was a one-time occurrence.
