Customize "Albums" to only include full albums or minimum number of tracks?

Post by sarthaz »

I have lots of one-hit-wonders with an album set in the metadata, but it pollutes my "Albums" category with a bunch of single-song albums. Is there a way to configure it to only display an album if it has multiple consecutive tracks or a minimum number of tracks or something like this?

Thanks!

No, you can't exclude certain Albums from the Albums display.

A workaround is to have these one-hit wonders in separate location and the create a Collection that excludes this location. This the Albums would not display them.

Any thoughts on how to accomplish something similar with a huge number of singles in your music collection? They muck up the display of actual albums something fierce. How can I eliminate them from the album display list?

You can't unless they're filtered out of the Collection.

I've got the same annoying issue. Allot are probably from a long time ago when my ex decided to sync my library with the ITunes library and it deleted all sorts of stuff. So I've got individual artist folders with one song, that are actually part of a dj mixed album.

I need some way to identify incomplete albums? Or a report of missing tracks?

There is no such option or Addon to do this for MediaMonkey.

You can try to use Files to edit and two Multiple artists album nodes. Not perfect but can make things easier to correct.

So does this not seem like a feature worth pursuing?

A simple filter to display only albums with at least x number of tracks?

and/or

If it were possible to identify complete albums when tagging or manually?

Hi Andy, this might be achieved using MMW4 and a combination of Tagging Inconsistencies and Magic Nodes add-ons / extensions.

Tagging Inconsistencies has a node for "Album With...Missing Tracks"

whereas:

Magic Nodes has "Specific Albums...Incomplete Albums"

There is a Custom Node in MMW5 for both Complete Albums and Incomplete Albums BUT it displays results as album tiles. If (for example) you were to try and select ALL the albums to edit the properties then I think you will have a problem! Say you wanted to add a comment / custom tag to mark these albums "Incomplete" or "Complete"...

If you use MMW4 and Magic Nodes, I know you can add "Custom Tags" that can then be used in a Collection / View.

Whilst some caution is needed!!!, using MMW5 and MMW4 with add-ons has some significant advantages.

Hope this helps.

The problem is that you could via Addon see which files are missing from the Album in the middle. ie. if you have a track 14, but no track 12. However you'd need to check online that track 15 is missing. So a simple solution is only half a solution. Another complication will be different pressings of the same Album with different track counts (ie. are you really missing the last tracks or are they from a different pressing).
