Certain M4A Files won't play [#20080]

Post by stonefree »

The playback problem seems to happen regardless of version, but the files that don't work have similar properties

Code: Select all

MMA can only play files natively supported by the device, this may not be the case for the files that fail to play. MMW can Auto-Convert on Sync to get around files not supported by the device.

Stonefree,

Do the problematic files play with YouTube music?

Had terrible trouble trying to get YouTube Music to find my device files, finally got it working, but it doesn't list the unplayable tracks.

Foobar2000 finds the track and can play it. I feel like if I could somehow strip out the extra steams it would probably start being readable/playable.

Stonefree,

It looks like the problematic files have secondary streams (subtitles?) and the android codecs are having trouble with that. Can you send me a sample of one of the problematic files?

You can upload the file to ufile.io and share a link via our helpdesk.

Thanks!

Hi,
Ok Added as https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=20080 as I can confirm your file do not play in MMA.

But can you please try this:
1. If you do not have latest MM5 Installed you install it as PORTABLE INSTALLATION
2. Start it -> Cancel/Ignore all prompts
3. Drag and drop file to MM5 now playing
4. Right click -> Edit Tags -> Clear tags
5. Right click -> Properties
6. Change Album value to for example "Unknown Album" -> OK -> Right click -> Edit Tags -> Update Tags
7. Copy that file to MMA and try to play it

For me that file played normally then.
Best regards,
Peke
