MM5 Upgrade has killed Wifi Sync

Post by PatheticRed »

Hi Everyone, first post. Had MM4 setup perfectly but upgraded to MM5 on phone and windows and it killed the wifi sync and after a week of reading post after post I just can't get it fixed. Versions I'm using are 5.0.4.2692 Gold & 2.0.0.1103 Pro. After reading one post I did a complete wipe of MMA (all data, cache, folders) and restarted and that definitely helped but it now gets to step 2 on the sync and after trying for a bit it comes up with a cloud with a slash saying "Server Disconnected" Reconnect or select server are options. Right before that it says "since this is your first time you may need to accept connection on the server" but no clue how to do that. Any help is greatly appreciated. MM4 was setup so great I feel like an idiot upgrading but I really want to get this working again.

Can you play files via Media Servers in MMA from the MMW server? The common problem is the Firewall on Windows blocking MMW.

You may also want to try the latest beta of MediaMonkey 5.1.

Thanks for the super fast reply. I went to the Media Servers section and added the server via the URL code pic method and it says "Saved media server is inaccessible" so I guess the answer to your first question is no. I had previously gone through the 2 posts you linked but will look through again to see if I missed something.

Still recommend 5.1, but you may want to check that the client is allowed on Clients tab of Media Sharing settings in MMW.

Progress! I didn't realize there are 3 firewalls on this stupidWindows machine, now that all 3 are off it is playing my library through the Media Server but still won't sync. I feel like it has to be close! I went in and Enabled the IP address of the found in the server as well but still didn't sync.

What happens when you Sync now? Is Wi-fi Sync enabled on the Summary tab for the device in MMW?

Note that it's not recommended to have no Firewall, it exposes your PC. However, only 1 should be needed, not 3.

Got it Working!! I closed everything, then restarted and it finally popped up a permissions request in MMW and after another restart because it locked the sync finally initiated. I don't sync that often so I think I can manage just turning off the firewalls when I do but I'll figure that out some other week. Thank you so much for the super fast support, Love this product.

Hi,
May I suggest that you play around with https://www.binisoft.org/wfc a free app that controls Windows firewall an dadds quick and nice GUI to it, so that you do not need to be Cyber Investigator and Certified System Administrator to understand what is what and what is not.

From my experience having 3 firewalls is worse than having none, but who am I.
