Incorrect Display of Rating

Post by MattTown »

Strange problem just occurred in MM2024.3040, where incorrect values for rating were shown against tracks in the main list.

Situation:
Three tabs open - Entire Library, a playlist, and tab showing the results of a search for an artist, yielding about 15 tracks with a variety of ratings.
Am playing the searched-for artist tracs via the Now Playing panel at right and updating the track metadata in the Main List at centre.

Action path:
Decided to check out the "Grid (by Album)" view of the playlist tab.
Changed the display size of the album icons via Manage Views (pulldown next to list option control) > Grid (by Album) > Image size (button at bottom left) > increased to 175%.
Back to the Grid (by Album) view, larger icons as expected.

Problem:
Switched to the artist search results tab - all of the tracks were showing a five star rating! This looked REALLY bad because rating is one of the data elements of highest value to me.

Outcome:
Fortunately, pulling up the properties dialog for one of the tracks showed that the original rating was still intact (two stars).
Refreshing the view made no difference, all of the tracks were still showing 5 stars.
Restarted MM and the original ratings returned to the list display.

Test repeat:
The effect did not repeat when I tried the same path after the MM restart.
I know that this could have been a "driveby rating" because the rating control is very easy to trigger with incautious mouse control, but that would have required all tracks to have been selected at once, which did not happen in the session, and would have changed the recorded rating as shown by the properties box.

I tried to reproduce, but no luck. It was most possible only display problem, but in case you would find repro steps, please let us know. Thanks.

Happened again after an exploration of Tools>Options for a separate forum post. Now have debug working and a debug build so will submit that if I see it again.

Matt, re. the search tab, is it a Global or Contextual search? And what view is used for the search?

Thanks!
