Remembering scroll position fails when Column Filter is active [#21362]

Post by peter_h »

Currently, when returning to a previous view, the viewable list position is reset to the beginning (at least on Album Grid view -- haven't tested on others yet).

I'm finding this annoying when scrolling through the grid, double-clicking on an album to edit its details, then clicking back to return to the album grid, and it's reset the view to the beginning again. When I have so many albums, it can be quite the scroll!

:) Thanks!

Currently evaluating a migration from MM4 (4.1.31.1919 on Win7 SP1/16Gig RAM/intel) to MM2024 (latest Debug version on Win11 24H2/16GB RAM/intel)

**If you're wondering why I'm still on MM4: It still has more useful-to-me plugins; and I prefer the GUI's responsiveness, panes spreadable over multi-monitors flexibility, and predictability (all coz it's more Windows-native). I also hate "flat design" for its visual inefficiency. For me, MM4's benefits are still > MM5, and MM5's downsides < MM4. There still appears to be way less MM5 plugins -- even after all this time. MM5 docs for plugin developers seem very undeveloped to me -- which makes me uninclined to invest into learning how to improve MM5 for my own wants.

Re: [Req] Navigating back a view to remember scroll position

It's remembering scroll position for me. I browsed to Audiobooks in Grid, scrolled down. Then navigated to Playing and use Back and it took me back down the page.
Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey are you using?

Using latest .3074 Debug build, Portable installation.

In MediaTree, click Music>Albums, then scroll down in gridView. Double-click an album, which goes to listView for that album. Click [< Back], and the gridView returns, but reset to the top.

Have just tried the same process from mediaTree>Music> Genres, and mediaTree>Music> Artists, and the scroll position is remembered, unlike the Artists node.

It works for me on both Artists and Albums. Are you sure the node has loaded all items before you double click an item?

Yep, plenty of time given to load 1110 albums. Scroll to bottom. Waited more time before clicking the album...etc = Same result.

I restarted MM and... same problem.

However -- after some experiments -- I've worked out that the problem only occurs if the Column Filter is in operation. Edit the gridView (Manage Views>Grid (by album)>Edit) and test to see if you get the same problem that I'm having.

For me, turning off the Column Filter makes the return to the gridView remember it's previous scroll position (the desired behaviour).
