Change speed/tempo

Post by AndyNZ »

I am using MM 5.0.5.2695 (standard edition - unregistered)

I just use it for playing music and it has every feature I require - except for the ability to change the speed.

The wiki page at Wiki Home > MediaMonkey 5 Help > Playing Media Files > Player makes no mention of playback speed adjustment.
Another wiki page at Wiki Home > MediaMonkey 2024 Help > Playing Media Files > Player does mention this option.

Is MediaMonkey 2024 an update to version 5 or a completely different product.

MM 2024 is a new version, currently in beta testing, but about to be released any moment.

I have now installed MM 2024 with the new speed change facility - just what I wanted.

A bit puzzled by the three quick setting buttons above the slider which seem to have random values.
On my desktop they read at different times:
1.45, 1.05, 1.2
1.5, 1.45, 1.05
On my laptop they read at different times:
0.95, 0.8, 2.5
0.65, 0.8, 0.95

Just wondered what determines the values and if there is an option to set them to permanent values.

On my laptop the buttons read .75, 1.25, and 1.5. So far always the same when I open the settings.

Wonder why this would not be consistent for all users?

The values shown are the last 3 used values. This is why it will be different values for different users.

OK, I can see that. In fact it is the last three settings prior to the current setting of anything other than 1, with the second-last setting appended at the left.

So, to create a custom preset, you need to select each of those desired values, and close and then select one additional value and close again. As long as you keep using only those presets, they will stick, but if you use some othe value, it will displace whatever was your rightmost value before.

Reset will not restore a default set of values. I think it would be nice to have a "save as default" setting.

Thanks for the explanation. I see how it works now.
The ability to save/restore defaults would certainly be helpful.
