Help! "Newbie" Problems

So, I'm a "newbie" now but I did use MediaMonkey 3 lifetimes ago. Admittedly, when I did, I actually messed up my music collection. I'm sure it was user error. So, I'm back now and want to do things right.
First of all, I use iTunes. Don't hate me. I have both matching and apple music (so I can listen to songs I don't already own). I want to keep using iTunes as a result.
Second, because iTunes makes fixing metadata as difficult as possible (why can you just tab through the fields in song view like a spreadsheet?), I want to use MediaMonkey to make changes to the meta data.
Problem: I tried to do this but nothing updated in iTunes.
Second Problem: I tried to use the Auto-Tag function, but when reviewing the song, I noticed that in some cases, it wants to change correct information to incorrect information. For example, I have a song I bought on Apple and MediaMonkey insisted the album was incorrect. THAT is how my library got messed up the first time around.
Finally, I think MediaMonkey was easier to use 3 lifetimes ago, but maybe I'm looking back with rose colored glasses.
