Hi All,

Haven't had this issue before, but now Media Monkey is crashing (freezing) every time I hit the "Browse" button to change album artwork.

Any ideas for fixing this issue?

Thanks!

Cheers,

Bosley

Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey are you experiencing this with?

Hi,
Close MM and you can try to Delete/Rename persistent.json (see location of file) and then start MM.

Many of us apparently are experiencing the same bug or error in Media Monkey. Can you guys fix (patch) it please!?

So I tried Peke's suggestion (thanks for the effort) and deleted the persistent.json files (two of them so named) and for other users that location of file link about AppData presumes you know where it is (I didn't), you go to Windows Explorer, C drive, go to Users/your name/Appdata/Roaming/MediaMonkey 5
you may need to right-click and find where you can select to see hidden folders before the folder AppData is visible.

But Peke, deleted the two files persistent.json, opened Media Monkey, the issue had not changed/improved and the two persistent.json files reappeared back in their place in that folder too.

What is going on with this software? Too many bugs, reaching a point we may as well just use someone else's product for music playing. - do please help (p.s. can you make fixes more user-friendly, a load of articles on Media Monkey's site are so technical they just make users groan and begin disliking the product). hope this helps everyone, let's hope for improvements!

thank you Lowlander, decent of you to show desire to help. the latest one because I uninstalled it, restarted PC, reinstalled it, same issue. so when I go to the download page of the site it's v.2024.2.2.

If I (we) could just resolve this, the rest of the player is really very good compared to others. Its just that literally 10 of 10 times I try to right-click on an album, go to properties, artwork and 'browse' it freezes and then even when waiting a significant amount of time (15 minutes) when you eventually press the Ok button a second time it just makes a ping noise and there is nothing users can do except Ctl-Alt-Delete shut down the program. Very pleased to be the guinea pig and try any suggestions for the good of the monkey community. Grateful for any help.

Please capture a crash in a debug log (step 4b) and attach the log to a Support Ticket: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86643

This will help a developer analyze why this happens on your setup.

Many thanks Lowlander. Increasing faith in the support of this software since you have been responding/assisting (thank you). I have completed the instructions (Ticket #17180: "Attaching Debug Log to Board 'Crash upon Album Artwork Browse'"). Would be great to get it fixed since many customers must be affected if it crashes when you are only clicking on an album's Properties/Artwork. Can only Control/Alt/Delete to Task Manager shutdown the app even with the debug version. I have asked the developer updates you so you can update the case for others to find in future

We have no similar reports at the moment, but the log will help identify why this happens on your setup.
