Quite a few issues with this. It seems to be that there are some elusive problems. They only show with (apparently random) patterns of playlist names and it would seem my test playlists happened to be ok.

I've now got my playlists so that problems do occur... watch this space.

FYI, I have several hundred playlists, so it may be that it is somehow a special environment.
However, I have also experienced several times that the plugin runs instable, ie. it ends with an error, I try again, another / same error, I try again and then it runs successfully. In the end, it always ended successfully, so I decided to live with this situation. But now I could not get it to run successfully.

Statistically having more playlists seems to make the problem worse but the mixture of names used also makes a difference.

I use a hash index internally to cache the data. At it's heart there is a sparse populated table. If corruption intrudes into the unused parts that is ok but if it hits the utilised areas it will cause meaningless error messages.

I suspect that this problem has been present for a long time but has generally is benign. I do know that some users have simply tried to use the plugin and found 'it doesn't work for them' and I think that they have been unlucky enough that their cached playlists get corrupted.

Can I do anything to clear the cache or delete all playlists in iTunes so they are recreated from scratch or ... ?

Hi,

I'm new to the plugin and am having trouble getting it to work. My setup is as follows:

Windows 7
MM 4.0.7.1511
itunes 10.7.0.21 (was using the latest release but downgraded to try to get the plugin working)

I can see it in MM (d_itunes4.dll on grasstuft), but when I try to auto-sync it displays 'Synchronizing d_itunes4.dll on grasstuft (Preparing list of files) then I get an exception error (see debug below).

I've tried running MM both as an administrator and without.

EDIT: I created the C:\Users\Karen\Music\MMiTunes folder, as it was missing, and I am not getting the exception error dialog displaying, however there is an exception log as follows:

I'm running MM 4.1.0.1672 (i.e. a beta build) and iTunes 11.1.3.8

Although it's not considered "good practice" my synchronisation settings don't copy songs to a separate folder, they just point iTunes to files stored on a locally attached USB drive. It's always worked fine for me until now.

When I try to synch the following things happen:

I get the "preparing list of files" notification;
iTunes opens up;
I get the following message on screen and in the error log:

Reinstalled the plugin. That seems to have sorted things out a bit. Synchronisation is now running. But:

The status bar in MM is now saying "Copying nnn of 24460 files". It's never done that before. All my cache values in the plug-in are blank, so it's not clear whether it's really copying or where to. The files are starting to appear in iTunes with a location of "T:\......" which is what my external hard drive is mapped to.

So it's working. But it's really slow. Usually it would "speed through" this process pretty quickly. Right now it's taking 2-3 seconds per file. That means that synching to iTunes is going to take around 13 hours.

What's going on?

Now I'm getting another set of errors. Turned off the volume check in the iTunes burn settings (not playback settings). That speeded things up no end. And even managed to import some playlists into iTunes.

So I checked a couple more playlists to synch in MM. In MM I open iTunes when synch starts and close it when synch finishes

What happens now is:

Synch starts (scanning files);
iTunes opens;
Synch stops;
iTunes stays open;
Nothing synchs.

I don't get an on-screen exception error message, but the error log reads:

I tried again, but did a 'clean install' of the plugin before, ie. I deleted the registry entries, deleted all *itunes* files in the plugin folder, also deleted all MP3s in the iTunes folder and also used all 'Delete' options in the plugin config. I've tried the new version of the plugin too and it's getting into a loop and keeps updating the MM'DB Journal file in AppData/Roaming. Doesn't finish normally so I'm having to terminate MM completely.

One other item I seem to have issues with the the "ignore" folders option. I still end up with folders in iTunes when exporting.

I am having a strange problem with itunes sync. I have specified any audio above 250kbps to be converted to 256k VBR. But all the 320kbps files got converted to 128 CBR. What can be the problem?

Where are the rules stored at? I have installed and unistalled the d_itunes plugin several times and perhaps during one of those installations I have specified everything to be converted to 128 CBR. I am hoping to clear that configuration file and start fresh. I have tried deleting all the rules in the user interface and add them back. But that still does not work.
