Re: Restore MM To Default Settings - Please Help
When you clicked on hkey_current user... did you just simply single click it and that's it or is there a
little plus sign to the left of it indicating a group of subfolders?

Re: Restore MM To Default Settings - Please Help
found the subfolders but still no mention of mediamonkey in any of them. they have titles like ap events, console, control panel, environment etc... would it be in one of these? i'm feeling timid about clicking on random things to look for something specific.

Did you do a Portable Install? In that case it wouldn't be in the registry.

If not a portable install:
Those are the right folders at that "level". Are you following through the entire path that lowlander gave?
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MediaMonkey\Interface
"Software" is the next folder..and so on...
As a last resort, if you still can't find anything, try this:
single click on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT > look at the regedit menu (at top) under edit > click on "find" > check the three boxes >
type in the term MediaMonkey > hit find\search
Tell us what you find.

Re: Restore MM To Default Settings - Please Help
ok.. i followed the path all the way to 'interface'. lowlander's original instructions were to delete the registry key. which part is the key i'm supposed to delete? when i double clicked on 'interface' the subfolder was titled 'v4'. is that what i delete?
Re: Restore MM To Default Settings - Please Help
Delete the "Interface" folder. That will take care of anything in it.Lowlander wrote:\Interface and delete the whole folder/key.
Do NOT do this before you've made a copy of your MediaMonkey database.

Re: Restore MM To Default Settings - Please Help
hi
i can't find the thread with my most recent comments so i'm here again instead.
fyi... i deleted the interface folder like you suggested but it didn't make any difference. everything is still in strange places or is absent from the display.
i guess i'll reinstall through the link you gave.
i'll wait a little in case you have any other suggestions but i'm ok just doing a reinstall if that's what it takes.
thanks
meghan

Did you edit the registry with MediaMonkey closed?

Re: Restore MM To Default Settings - Please Help
good question. i don't remember. i'll try again and see what happens.
Re: Restore MM To Default Settings - Please Help
ok. i opened mm and deleted the interface folder. no change.
then i closed mm and deleted the interface folder. no change.
then i went back and saw that the interface folder is still there after being deleted.
i can't say this makes any sense to me. do you understand?

Re: Restore MM To Default Settings - Please Help
Did MediaMonkey disappear from the Task Manager? Maybe you have security software blocking (restoring) registry edits?

Re: Restore MM To Default Settings - Please Help
it's still in task manager under both 'applications' and 'processes'.
if it's my security software, what does that mean?

Re: Restore MM To Default Settings - Please Help
You can disable your software temporarily and try it again then re-enable.
Also, some security/antivirus programs have launch tray settings (sometimes, right click on icon) like disable for 10 min, 1 hour, etc.
