After starting the Discogs Tagger, go to "Tagging Options" and uncheck the "Use new match Engine".
This should help.

Cheers

Use New Engine was already checked. I could try unchecking and rechecking to be sure, if you think that might help.

EDIT: Spare time being what it is, I tried it anyway. Unchecked, the tagger matched as it should, but after rechecking the new engine option it gave the mistake result.

I work on a version for MM5, but it won't be ready until next summer at the earliest.

What is the status on it now that it's summer?
Please let me know if you need someone to test.

Okay, sorry, i should it explain better.

You have to check "Use new match engine" if the number of tagging tracks are equal with the number of tracks from the release. So you have to uncheck the new engine option.

I'm happy that it work!

Problems with DT v5.82.

Post by misterioso »

Greetings folks and crap_inhuman,

Today I had issues with Discogs Tagger v5.82 locking up MM v4.1.31.1919 when searching for metadata and album art. It would search endlessly with no timeout, requiring me to close MM.

So I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling Discogs Tagger. No change, same issue of endless search locking up MM.

So I looked at the my Discogs account API settings in the Discogs website and found I had 5 instances of Discogs-Tagger approved as a 3rd party application. I decided to clear out all of my old API settings including revoking my old token and token secret.

I then uninstalled and reinstalled Discogs Tagger 5.82 again, but this time creating a new Discogs Access token during the installation process. I was greeted with a success message.

I entered my new Discogs API token and token secret information into MediaMonkey>Options>Discogs Tagger section and reran an Autotag from Web query. It worked, the endless search was now gone, but apparently I am now limited to only the MusicBrainz search. The option to search the Discogs database is missing.

Image

I may be guilty of not paying attention to things, but i swear the options box on the right hand side of the screen used to show an option of connecting to Discogs or MusicBrainz. Or am I wrong?

Image

From everything I can see, MM is connected to Discogs, but I just don't understand why my Autotag from the Web is not going to Discogs. It's probably something simple, but I have not found it after a couple of hours of going through the various applications. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, notice that in the Autotag from MusicBrainz for the Destiny's Child album above, the album song tracks are not synchonizing properly with the song tracks on my drive. Is that a MusicBrainz problem or is that a problem within my MM settings?

Thanks again.

Please disregard the above enquiry. After 3 more uninstall and reinstalls of Discogs Tagger, I finally got it to connect to Discogs. All is good now.

Either Discogs, your internet connection or anti-virus (kaspersky) cause the problem.
The best way with this problem is to wait and try later again.

Sometimes the option "Search at Discogs" doesn't appear after reinstall the addon. Re-Reinstall the addon should solve the problem.

Would you try to tag the Destiny's Child album again with MusicBrainz and send me the Log file ? Maybe it's a bug in the addon. You can find the log file here: c:\users\*yourusername*\appdata\roaming\mediamonkey\scripts\discogs_script.log

Sounds like this only tags files from publishers. What about songs recorded from radio? (Audio Tag . info) lets you upload a file for analysis, then lists possible results for you to manually tag the file with. How does this program actually identify a file? What does it look for? What does the file need, to be recognized/identified?

Hi,

the addon Discogs Tagger don't use files for tagging. The addon get the information from Discogs.com.
The addon use the Artistname und Songname for searching at Discogs.
Does my answer helps you?

For what it's worth, I'd like to add my own request for Discogs Tagger for MM5, it's just simply better than the weak thing they have now. It's a great addon, and I definitely appreciate your work. In fact, I appreciate it so much that I'm missing it right now. :-)

Thank you for your work, it really IS a great file tagger.

I get using use the Artistname and Songname for searching. But, what happens when one or both are unknown? There is a site that searches for songs by lyrics (good for text searching), and one by uploading a sample file (good for instrumentals and unknown versions). But most times, I get "no results", probably because of a small database. I was just hoping to find a better working tool(s).
Thanks.

I appreciated it so much I've stopped using MM after it went MM5. The Discogs tagger is the best feature of MM4 (kudos @crap_inhuman!).. It is quite interesting to see how many are stalling upgrading to MM5 due to this.

The MM developers only point at community driven plugin development for Discogs. Its the classic engineer trap, "lets spend a bunch of hours developing a poorly working auto tagger based on <insert rationale> and definitely not spend time on something that works and that people want".

According to htps:// www. ventismedia. com/mantis/view.php?id=16640 they do seem to take some inspiration from the add-on which I guess is good, if they would only add more control and more sources and to the tagger it would be really good. Right now it's more or less useless.

How does Discogs Tagger get the "First release date of album"?

I see lots of mentions of OriginalDate in the vbs script but it's way too complicated for me.

I'm trying to achieve the same thing using Mp3tag but having no luck at all. All it seems to look for are these fields.

Does anyone, especially crap_inhuman, know how to use Mp3tag to get the original release year of albums from Discogs or MusicBrainz?

Thanks.

[A simple question...] Is this tool just for rips? Or, can it be used in Auto-Tag? [For example]
