First and only time I tried to use MM with LastFM was trying this and it worked for me using the latest LastFM client. No hassles installation.

Well, the only silly issue I have is the zip file includes the users (Baculaat's) cache and log file which I just deleted before running MM.

Thanks!

Tried the fix that guy posted on the last.fm forums but I still can't scrobble CD tracks. :( Anyone found a fix for this yet? Or am I the only one having this problem?

There's quite a few solutions. Read through this thread or check my sig.

Tried all the things suggested in this thread. Multiple times. And perused several other threads here and on the last.fm site. The last.fm client still does not recognize when MM is playing a CD.

Does it work with tracks in your library?

Yes. Library works great.

I checked the last.fm client to ensure my CD drive was set to be scrobbled on that end, and retrieved the CD info from freedb (it was Dylan's Modern Times, so it's not some obscure or homemade CD that wouldn't tag properly)

(and yes, I know I could just rip the CD to my library, but when I'm listening on my geeky Sennheiser headphones, I can actually tell the difference between compressed and CD-quality sound...convenience has made me a lazy audiophile and I'm trying to get myself back in the habit of listening to discs...yeah, I'm weird  )

No, it's not a huge deal, it's just one of those "i can't for the life of me figure out why this is" and it bugs the OCD half of my brain, that's all.

Well, the old audioscrobbler plugin only supports mp3's, so thats probably why that one doesn't work.

As far as the 'official client,' my guess is that MM can't support the .cda filetype. From last.fm:
Last.fm client support wrote:On occasion there are problems with the retrieval of tag metadata from files that are not MP3 format and as such you may need to download an alternative plug-in for your media player to get these tracks scrobbled. To find out the file format of your files, open up Windows Explorer, by pressing Windows Key + E, and go to the folder where these files are stored. From there, you should see the file names such as Paranoid Android.FLAC. The bit after the period, at the very end is the file type.
The MM devs are working on an official MM/last.fm scrobbler, so hopefully this will be addressed when that is (eventually) released.

If you synch an Ipod, you have another reason to install the latest!

My ipod is running rockbox now, so it's basically a generic mp3 player with kickass firmware, but I do miss my Zen.

I want one of the 160 GB iPods (which are incompatible with third party software...thanks Apple!)...why can't Creative or any other company bother to compete with Apple, especially as far as storage space goes? The Zune is hardly a better alternative and the large-capacity Zen players seem to have been largely abandoned by Creative. What gives?

There's definitely an untapped market for super-geeky/audiophile portable audio players with large-capacity hard drives, OGG/Flac/etc support, more customizable audio settings, etc, that no one is addressing, and it's quite sad.

Guess we are going a bit off topic, but since there is now native scrobbling support, guess topic is resolved. :)

I always said I would never own a Pod, but mine was a free "broken" one from a friend. Could not turn down free or the chance to fix "broken".

BTW, I actually am pretty happy with it. But, not to the point that I would replace it with another Pod.
Although same friend just got an IPhone.... now if that were to become broken...

nohitter151 wrote:Option #1
1. Download this: http://static.last.fm/plugins/ass/Winam ... 0.45.0.exe

2. Move scrobbler plugin (.dll file) from \Winamp\Plugins\ to \Mediamonkey\Plugins

3. When last.fm tells you to update your plugin, don't do it, the newest plugin doesn't work.

4. Scrobble!

Option #2
1. Download this: http://static.last.fm/plugins/audioscro ... 1.1.10.exe

2. Put plugin into Mediamonkey\Plugins\

3. Restart MM or start it, and go into Tools -> Options -> General Plug-ins to enter your login information

4. Scrobble!
I did both of these methods. I got last.fm's site to record my stats but the last.fm client (that sits in your tray) doesn't correspond with MM the way Winamp did. Thoughts?

The native MM plugin does not utilize the last.fm client. The first Winamp plugin listed there does (although I've never tried it with MM -- I didn't want the nag screen all the time), the second Winamp plugin does not.
