Ipod.dll changed??

I have been using the beta release to sync my ipod classic, and they have been working fine as far as syncing.

I have skipped I believe only one or two releases, and jumped to the latest release. Now when I plug in the ipod it doesn't recognize that I have a profile already for it. So it creates another one identical. I really don't feel like restoring the ipod, since it will take forever to sync 70gbs.

Try deleting the 'bad' profile so that MM matches your iPod to the good one.

I have tried that with no luck:( It will just create another one.

Not really sure what is going on, I uninstalled the latest version of MM and installed the release on the main page and it still doesn't want to pull the configuration file.

I am stumped, I guess my only choice is to install itunes(err) and do a system restore and reconfigure MM.

I have the same problem, I can't figure it out. I've even restored the ipod twice, which really sucks cause it takes like 8 hours to put the music back on, but no luck. After 4 or 5 times of syncing properly, it does this. I need some help too if anyone figures it out.

Can you confirm: is your iPod really named 'mUGS - USB Mass Storage Device'?

Also, what is the MUGS (H:) device? I'm wondering if the iPod was somehow recognized by the WMDM driver, and perhaps that device should be deleted.

The "H" drive is the ipod itself, when I plug it in, windows also recognizes it as a DRIVE, hmm I guess that can be a problem since it shows WMDM.dll

I went ahead and did a ipod restore last night. So I am starting from scratch. I will send you some debugs if it happens again.

BTW, where is that info stored at. The "configuration" file for what to sync and what not, is it stored on the device itself?

When I restored my device I changed the device name for any discrepancies, and I remember before when I plugged it in awhile back, it asked what kind of ipod was it (ipod classic, itouch.....) It hasn't asked me yet. Just wondering if that is important.
