I enjoy using MediaMonkey so much, it'll be more than worth the wait for a fix, however long it takes. Maybe I just have a bit more patience than most. The songs aren't going anywhere, lol. I don't drink beer, but maybe some chocolate milk or tea will work for me in the meantime.

:D

EDIT BY RUSTY:
This is a bug in MM that has become apparent due to a change at Amazon, and is affecting all users. It will be resolved v3.1.1.

In the meantime you can try some of the scripts below to auto-tag from sites other than Amazon:
auto tag from discogs: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28649&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a#p145274
auto tag from musicbrainz: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=34267
auto tag from musicip: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=30994#p158222
auto tag from yahoo: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=37476

Seriously. Some people are nearing "asshole level" with the demands here.

For the record, auto-tagging is far from the only thing MM is great for. On top of that, how so many people are apparently ending up with so many songs in their libraries that have no tags whatsoever, I have no clue. The only thing I personally have to use auto-tag for most of the time is album art.

So, I'll second, third and fourth the "chill the hell out"s. Either that or go code your own program and see how quickly you get that up and running.

Yes I agree with Dox, a few of posts ago. I use Media Monkey for album art, and its a terrific program. All my Flac's are encoded with EAC anyway which tags everything but the album art.

I am willing to wait for the fix and see what happens. It definitely is not the end of the world. I have gone a long time with out Media Monkey (before I discovered it). I can wait a little longer and use it to play the songs. I did say this is a terrific program didn't I, I could never write something like this. Really brilliantly executed. I was using Foobar 2000 before this, and though that program is FREE as in FREE beer, it really took a person specialized in Foobar 2000 to get it to really look good.

This program worked right after installation. AND IT PLAYED ALL MY FLAC's with out setting one option. FLAC is short for Free Lossless Audio Codec which encodes all my cd's in their original format. I can tell the difference between an MP3 and a FLAC, The difference is there (I do have very good hearing), some times is an unexplainable hiss of high notes or the muting of low notes, but that difference is there. I like to use FLAC as an archive of all the music I have. EAC (Exact Audio Copy) is an excellent software that has saved some of my CD's from the trash. Even though it would not play in the cd player with out skipping, I was able to successfully rip the track of the defective CD and keep it in my archive just in case I loose my hard drive. With a few more tweaks, I was able to get Media Monkey to do exactly what I wanted it to do.

Oh yea, did I say this was a terrific program, the other nice feature is I can recode selected .flac's to .mp3 and put them on my media player. All with in one application.

Yes this is an excellent piece of software, and I will be purchasing the life time version of this. Much better than Itunes.

Good luck in fixing this.

If it's already addressed in the next planned codebase, it's not likely they could pull out just this component and do regression testing on adding it as a patch to 1256 in any reasonable amount of time. May as well just relax and wait for the next release.

I've ripped a bunch of new media and only today had the time to go thru and start tagging them. It's now that I've faced this cruel irony that I realize that the auto-tag feature was basically the reason I paid good money for this program in the first place. It's basically back to winamp now.

I know people are hushing each other about the whole situation and espousing the other benefits of this software, but you all need to face reality; for a lot of people who rely on auto-tag, media monkey is now severely crippled and next to useless. A simple patch, released promptly, would be an appropriate move and courteous to MM's otherwise loyal fanbase. Making us wait god knows how long until the next release is less so.

no big deal, just sayin.

Workaround
For all you people thinking your life is over, go and install scripts for other lookups from other things like Yahoo at http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... oo#p195396

Foxron FTW!!!

you've saved me a lot of headaches and misplaced gripings. I am ashamed of myself for having so little faith in this fantastic program.
