[quote="trixmoto". It's confusing however that you say this is the mode that you want and also that you want to update the track - if you want to update the track then select one of the tag modes![/quote]

I want to update the picture displayed (so update MM's database entry that connects the folder picture to the album), not the track/file/tag itself. So yes, mode 5 is what I was trying to use but didn't work for me as it was adding a blank picture/link to the tag.
With the fix I describe (calling SDBAlbumArtItem::ItemStorage with a type of 1 instead of 4 when Storage mode is 5) it seems to do the right thing and fixes the known issue you describe (not clear if you meant it's a known issue with the MM API or with the script)

I have to exit and restart MM for the actual picture to be displayed, I have not yet figured out how to tell MM to rescan the current folder to find the newly added folder.jpg, but it's a minor inconvenience.

MM always displays the artwork in the tag, not the library, so you will need to modify the tags. By rescanning when you restart MM is automatically adding the new artwork to the tag.

Nope, I don't believe that. Every other MP3 tool tells me that there is not artwork embedded in the track.
The database simply associates the file in the folder to the track, without writing to the track.

I tried this and while it looked promising it just says "error :(" when trying to save the images for some reason?

Same here.
This script was one of the reasons I've just bought MM actually!

I've had some "fun" getting the VB stuff sorted out on Vistax64, finally sorted this, now at this roadblock - any image I care to check to be saved, gives me "error :("

Have enabled debug. Have cut out the bit of the log file that is relevant - the filename doesn't seem to be even vaguely right. Perhaps what is complicating things is that the media library sits on a network share on a NAS box (called Milhouse). No idea why those dashes aren't back-slashes? Is this a bug, or is there something I should have configured - I've just installed MM Gold and not changed any of the settings...

I might have a poke around in the VB script next.

Your help would be appreciated.
Thanks
sp.

Well. It's probably something to do with my setup, but the problem is related to the following line in the code:

Code: Select all

path = SDB.Tools.FileSystem.CorrectFilename(path)
Ironically, this function appears to take a perfectly 'correct' input string, like:

Code: Select all

\\MILHOUSE\MUSIC\SlimServer Music Library\Lossless\The Beach Boys\The Very Best of the Beach Boys\The Very Best of the Beach Boys
and turn it into

Code: Select all

\\MILHOUSE-MUSIC-SlimServer Music Library-Lossless-The Beach Boys-The Very Best of the Beach Boys-The Very Best of the Beach Boys
which is 'incorrect'!

It must be something to do with the fact I'm using a network location to store my music on, rather than a local drive like C: or D: or something...

Anyhow, I commented out that line and all is well now, I can save the selected image :)
Hope that helps someone
All the best sp.

This bug is probably an imcompatibility for UNC paths, I'll try unchecking it too and see if it works for me.

In one of the more recent versions of MM the "\" character has been added to the filemappings list so is now being converted to "-" by that proc when it didn't used to. As I have stated (multiple times in this thread and others) I have fixed this problem and it will be released in this script when I've finished working on the latest version.

New version (3.1) is now available to download from my website. Changes include...

- Fixed filenames so that folder separator is never mapped
- Fixed "Download only" was updating tags
- Fixed Windows temporary directory sometimes ends with slash
- Fixed buttons not registering click events properly
- Fixed some albums skipped when track count fails
- Fixed albums with no tracks were being selected
- Added option to always use first track title in url
- Added option to set maximum difference between height and width
- Added flags on new options and reorganised options sheet
- Added tooltips to option fields with abbreviated labels
- Added option to limit album selection by filter
- Fixed tagging images internally sometimes leaves path in database
- Fixed progress bar so total doesn't keep resetting
- Fixed display size not always being enforced
- Fixed image size sometimes checked before fully loaded
- Fixed tagging to improve performance and reduce locking

There were a few requests for new sources which are on my list for the next version, but I thought people would be interested in getting their hands on the fixes! :)

Can I upgrade from the previous version just by launching the file?
