Hey just trying to run embedded miniyrics again. I had it working a while back but some problems made me uninstall it, but i've tried again to discover the same problem again!

I've installed minilyrics, but it doesn't open with mediamonkey, even when i use the 'restart minilyrics' shortcut it does not bring up media monkey in the list of running players. any ideas? I can't get the embed to work because it has nothing to embed!

probably when you installed it you didn't select "MediaMonkey" in the installer, so the plugin isn't there.

Check for the file gen_Minilyrics.dll in the Program Files\MediaMonkey\Plugin\ folder.

That's a Minilyrics problem then, you should contact the Minilyrics author via his website. This forum thread is for problems with the embedder.

hello all.

i think i know what the last two users with "no lyrics" are experiencing, if i am correct you've already touched on this subject on the first couple of pages with a user that had only a grey panel.

i've installed MM && minilyrics && embedder several times, on my main os and on a xp virtual machine, ML's setup configured only for mediamonkey. the embedder simply created an empty (grey) panel, over which (by default sizing/positioning or sheer luck) minilyrics then overlaps a completely independent window (minimize MM & the minilyrics "panel" will remain up). no lyrics are displayed in normal mode at first, if you select another mode (eg. floating lyrics) you will see them. resetting to normal mode at this point sorts things out but still as an independent window, i assume this is not the operating mode you are talking about as calling this "embedding" is... well...

restarting ML with MM active does not list MM in the list of players (as also reported by another user) - is this part of the problem? - however firing up MM does bring up ML also- just nowhere near embedded.

I've repeated the installation process several times on this system and on freshly reimaged XP virtual machines, every time with the same result.

I've browsed some of the pages here for a solution, but aside from the numerous full reinstalls and checking that the gen_MiniLyrics.dll is in place i couldn't find much. also the other files referenced on some posts here are nowhere to be found and i wonder if we are even looking at the same web pages...: a vbs "auto script" to be placed manually ? got from where? not the downloads section of ML which lists only ML && the embedder, none of which are vbs files

or the advice to manually run "C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Scripts\Auto\MiniLyrics Embedder Console.exe"
and this exe comes from where? not the ML download page in the MM plugins, or even ML's main site.
there's a "MiniLyrics Embedder" in the same location but this time it IS a vbs, not the exe mentioned in the pertinent post and the name does not fully match. i assume this is the "auto" script referenced in the previous paragraph, but this is installed automatically by the embedder....

coming from linux to windows is as pleasant as repeatedly hitting your face with a brick...

my apologies, i could not see a quick way to edit my post and i am severely pushed for time. just wanted to add that after the latest reboot due to driver updates, closing and restarting minilyrics with mediamonkey active does now list "minilyrics for mediamonkey", with status=="closed", all the rest as above. latest mobo drivers aside though, nothing else has changed and i am not sure what difference the last reboot could make that never had before, i mention it just to be thorough.

i just installed this and all im getting is an empty embedded window. any ideas whats wrong?

I had this same issue. When I moved the embedded window to a different position so the titlebar appeared on top it started working.

I'm having the same problem and moving the window around didn't help.

As people have stated many, many times more in this thread. Change Minilyrics skin from Fantasy to anything else (plain works best, no titlebar + changable colors/fonts) then restart Mediamonkey.

For those of you with the problem of minilyrics saying it could not be embedded, I found turning off "close to tray" fixed the problem. This forces MM to open in a normal window instead of the tray, thus the embedding window is open when it starts. I don't know if this was already stated, but I didn't want to read all 45 pages of posts.

The problem of the embedder not working has been a problem for me on and off for years - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

When it doesn't, the things I normally try are:

- make sure that the fantasy skin is not selected
- keep mediamonkey running
- run the 'restart minilyrics' program and ensure that it is showing as running "Minilyrics for MediaMonkey" and leave it open
(if this is NOT showing, make sure that minilyrics is running from within MM (View-Minilyrics Panel), but if still not showing then you have a minilyrics issue, not the embedder, so you will have to look elsewhere for help - sorry!)
- close MM
- observe the Restart Minilyrics box and press OK- it should say "The selected player could now be closed!" or similar and the box will now be empty, keep it running
- restart MM and you should see a slight delay in MM starting as the Restart Minilyrics box reinterrogates the system
- the panel should now be showing in MM and you can close the Restart Minilyrics box (which is probably still empty - don't worry, rerun it to see it updated)

The above works for me about 7 times out of 10, but the other 3 out 10 normally get sorted by what others have already posted.

Yea I was cycling through all the rubble that is the solution to this problem (embedded player w/o any lyrics aka blank)...Simply right click the empty embedded window within mediamonkey (make sure minilyrics.exe is installed followed by MiniLyrics Embedder1.4b.exe) and change the skin to plain or one of the other skins (not the default), will fix the problem.


Full Installation Instructions (PM me for help please post all relevant info to speed up the process)

0)Install Media MonkeyIf you get an error "MiniLyrics couldn't be embedded. Paste msvcr71.dll in the System32 folder (if x86) if you run a 64 bit system then insert it in the appropriate folder.

1) The minilyrics.exe must first be installed before the MiniLyrics Embedder1.4b.exe (MiniLyrics Embedder1.4b.exe must be installed while media monkey is closed)
2)Start Media Monkey
3)Restart minilyrics
4)Resize and move minilyrics window within the Media Monkey program
5) Right click the blank minilyrics window embedded within the Media Monkey program
6) Click "skins" change to plain or another skin (not default)
NOTE: If you changed the default theme, change the minilyrics skin to something similar to the skin format eg: itunes skin, set minplayer itunes format (its buggy & for some reason the skin formatting may prevent minilyrics from showing within Media Monkey)
7) Close Media Monkey and open it again
The embedded minilyrics window should now show lyrics and work properly
9) You can right click for further customization of minilyrics within Media Monkey

i really need help for this.
I have the mediamonkey gold and tried many thing already.

so now, when i open Mediamonkey the white embedded winwow shows up, but not in mediamonkey and only for a second.
Then it disappears.
And when I click on the minilyrics icon nothing happens.

What can i do?

SO! hey folks, i finally figured out my problem, and i thought i'd post it here to see if it could help anyone out

I am running windows 7 64 bit, so mediamonkey installed to "J:\Program Files (x86)", and ran fine, but no matter how i installed minilyrics it would never detect when mediamonkey was opened.

HOWEVER i had the idea one night (as i fell asleep actually) that perhaps if i moved the whole mediamonkey file to regular "J:\Program Files", something might change. so i uninstalled the embedder (which wasn't working) and minilyrics (ditto) and copied the folder over, then re-installed them both and BAM! It all worked

I don't really understand the whole distinction between Program Files (x86) and Program Files, (perhaps someone knows?) and i am pretty sure i was running the 64 bit version of mediamonkey, but it had since updated, so i'm not entirely sure.

Anyway, if anyone else has my same problem, and this helps, i hope it makes you as happy as it has me

me again from two posts above.

Somehow i can see the embedded window now in mediamoney,
but get the error "Minilyrics couldn't be embedded. Possibly its window, or the embedder window, isn't visible."

Can somebody explain to me, what i can do to make it work? The minilyrics icon is also not visible in the taskline.
