MediaMonkey iTunes plugin (d_itunes4.dll)
Re: MediaMonkey iTunes device plugin (d_itunes.dll)
Mark,
This is a truly brilliant add-in which appears to me to work brilliantly. The only time I've managed to find an issue is when I've started iTunes before MM and then I can't sync but closing them both down and starting MM then solves it.
The only enhancement I can think of which would be brilliant is to sync the skip count. I know MM doesn't currently have a field for this but I am using Big_Berny's autorate script (which is awesome by the way) and this script stored the number of skips in the first few characters of Custom5. I don't know if this is a tall order but it would be great to get these skips into iTunes and then get skips back from my iPod and then iTunes into MM which I can then use to autorate.
Thanks again for this great add-in

I don't what was causing my problem, but once I rebooted the original db pc the problem was resolved. Thanks.markstuartwalker wrote:Hi Nynnynaevelan wrote:Mark:
It's been a while since I used the plugin but I am attempting to start using it again in order to use iTunes on my laptop as a shared library. However, it seems every time I tell it to autosync it is removing everything from the iTunes library in order to re-add it. Is it possible for it to only add the new/changed tracks when syncing? I only want it to have to re-do the new/changed tracks not the entire library each time.
Only the changed tracks should be copied. Please check the clock sync between the two machines.

This is already on the enhancements list. I'm patiently waiting for MM 4.0 .... http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... :SkipCountPhilDG wrote:The only enhancement I can think of which would be brilliant is to sync the skip count. Fair play - I think we are awaiting the new features of MM4 although I am being drawn in by iTunes since I installed your plug-in. It just works really well with an iPod and reliably scrobbles. It doesn't compare though to MM when it comes to tagging, add-ins and the general support of the community especially on Windows. Your plug-in gives us the best of both worlds!!! Keep up the excellent work.

Sadly, I don't have an iPhone but I do have an Android App which nearly does the same.

I am having trouble getting the settings right for my playlists, it doesn't seem as if if the playlists are being updated when completing daily or weekly syncs. What settings should I use to have it remove the tracks from the playlists and then update to the newest version of the playlists?

Playlists can get confused when they are renamed, moved between folders or have duplicate names. They are referenced by name between the 2 systems so renaming is catastrophic. For the same reason the orphaned playlists remain forever and cannot be recovered. In any of these situation manual intervention may be needed.
Simply delete the playlists from iTunes (this will leave the tracks in iTunes alone). Then do a sync and all the playlists will be reconstructed.

Re: MediaMonkey iTunes device plugin (d_itunes.dll)
Hi Mark
Everything's working fine here. Do you think you can activate the "Only sync first genre" option for your plugin? I retagged my mp3s 'cause my ipod kept crashing with 14,000+ genres in the database. That way my MM database can store all the additional info that itunes isn't capable of.
Thanks in advance and regards

Re: MediaMonkey iTunes device plugin (d_itunes.dll)
Hmmmm, actually I don't have any code to handle multiple genres .... I simply hand the file to iTunes and away it goes. It builds the genre list itself.
I've never heard of anyone having that many genres before. I guess that you have multiple genres per tracks so restricting to the first one would limit the number of different ones to a sensible size?

Re: MediaMonkey iTunes device plugin (d_itunes.dll)
New version http://www.mediafire.com/file/9rrqpc5jc ... iTunes.dll (1.4.0.684)
13/7/2010
* When in "Flatten Folder" mode use parentMaxLength to limit the name length (no GUI yet)
15/7/2010
* Preparation code added to sync SkippedCount (coming in MM4)
18/7/2010
* Single Genre and Artist options implemented
* Config extended to cover First Genre and Artist unpersisted
* Config.readini() each time around rather that re-create
Small proviso on the Single Genre and Artist options ... you must have a Cache Path set. This is necessary because iTunes and MM will have different entries for Genre and Artist under these circumstances and these are written to the originating track on disk. If MM and iTunes were allowed to share the file then the plugin would overwrite the original MM track entries.

Re: MediaMonkey iTunes device plugin (d_itunes.dll)
I am having some installation problems.
I have installed the dll and I have configured the iTunes icon. All of my iTunes playlists are recognized; however, I cannot play any of the songs through MM. When I try to sync iTunes with MM, none of my MM playlists show up in the iTunes MM folder.
I have gone through your configuration list step-by-step and appear to be doing everything right.
Any help you could give would be sincerely appreciated. My goal is to be able to play my MM playlists on my iPhone 4 through iTunes.
Thanks.

I'm a bit confused here does "All of my iTunes playlists are recognized" mean that your playlists in MM have been sync'd into iTunes? Do you need to set up an auto-sync list?
Would you elaborate please.

Re: MediaMonkey iTunes device plugin (d_itunes.dll)
Ok Guys (Mark),
I was referred here from a forum waiting for MM to enable synching the old fashioned way. I have done all as detailed on the first page of this thread from Mark. I can see my play list in itunes. I have synched my iphone. I can see the music I have added to the ipone in MM itunes device but I cant see the music in the iphone. How do I find the song in my iphone? I can't see them. Do I need to select Sync Music in itunes for this to work? Waitiiiiing. rctechy4
