Installing it and uninstalling the software is not a good solution, as I believe that damages registry in the computer.

Don
MM cannot communicate with the iPod without iTunes being installed.

I had the similar hardware and problem as the people in this thread re: copytrans etc.. am using the latest MM4 beta. I can;t think why it may required but I installed QTLite as stated in the FAQ and it seemed to fix it.. Worth a try if you really cant bring yourself to go the whole hog with itunes..

This is a little late but I also didn't want itunes installed. I installed it, then copied the folder c:\program files\iPod. I then uninstalled itunes (which removes the iPod folder) and I pasted the copy folder back into program files. Media monkey now recognizes my phone but iTunes isn't around to pop open and mess my shit up. Hope this helps..

media monkey 4.0 worked with my iphone 4 after i rolled back my itunes version from 10.5 to 10.1. that 10.5 itunes gives MM no love. however u will have library issues when u change to an earlier version of itunes. just search for itunes.library.itl fix and u should be fine

You haven't given much details to go on. Not even sure if the 2 lasts guests are the same and sure don't understand what MSI's have to do with anything at all.

iOS5 and newer isn't supported as stated at the top of the forum. QuickTime and iTunes need to be installed and you should always check that iTunes on the same machine can connect to the iPhone.

well idk what the iOS5 is but I've already done this with my phone roughtly a year ago with no problems.. now after trying different versions of both MM and iTunes I finally got both to detect my hone but nothing will sync.. When I start MM and go to look at my iPhone it says it's scannin.. and never stops. when I try to sync.. it starts and has coping 0 out of "x" but never moves

iOS5 is the operating system of the phone. If your iPhone has been upgraded to iOS5 it won't work with MediaMonkey (yet).

What version of MediaMonkey and iTunes are installed? Also see: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... zation/4.0

If it hangs on sync, which is different from won't detect iPhone topic of this thread you can send a debug log (step 4b) to support so the developers can see why it hangs: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=69

When I started in here it wouldn't detect that was my original problem but after that post I got it to detect (i think) only problem is iTunes sees it as '(name) iPhone' but in MM it's only 'iPhone"

Im using tthe newest version of MM and version 10.1.1of iTunes which got it to detect (so I think)

Can the iPhone 4 have the iOS5 still?.. or is it only for the iPhone 5?... maybe i updated it without realizing?

There is no iPhone 5, so yes iOS 5 can run on iPhone 4's.

On the iPhone try Settings > General > Software Update to see what version of iOS is running, it should also show in iTunes when you select the iPhone.

iTunes tells me I can get an update and my version is 4.2.6.

iTunes wont let me change the manually manage music box without resyncing and deleteing everything on my library, that would defeat the purpose of using this..
the whole reason i dont wanna use itunes is cuz I dont wanna redo my whole iphone again I just wanna add a few songs like i did before... but no iTunes is dumb and wont let you add things with any idevice if it's saved to it from a different library.. they really need to change that that is the most annoying thing about the idevices

Then you should be fine (don't upgrade to iOS5 or newer for now) and should send a debug log to support to see why it is failing for you.

You may also try rebuilding the device database.
