Hi, I'm new and trying out Mediamonkey.
I have a similar problem as in this topic (http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =1&t=75439). My initial scan-directory is too big (not all the folders should be scanned).
I tried to delete the library in order to create a new one. But no deletion happens. When I choose File > Delete Library I have to confirm this in a new window by typing "YES". I tried several yesses, like yes, YES and "YES". But Mediamonkey won't delete the library.
I have adjusted the rescanning option, but at the start everything gets in and that is too much.
I also have deleted Mediamonkey, but in re-installing it it picks up the whole location again, so that did not help.
I appreciate some help very much.
greetings, Lorena (Netherlands)

Re: Can't delete Library
The correct way to delete library is YES in all caps, with no quotes.
It works fine for me, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you. Do you use MM in another language?
At any rate you can achieve the same thing by just deleting the database file, named MM.DB. If you don't know where to find it, see: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=17

Re: Can't delete Library
I have a dutch version of MM. But the confirmation window is in english.
It's dinnertime now, so I will follow the instructions of manual deleting of the database later. And let you know about the result.
Thanks so far.

Re: Can't delete Library
Well, I've deleted de mm.db file. When starting up MM it still monitors and adds folders that I don't want. MM did not ask me what folder/location I want to use for the library. I don't know why it doesn't start blank so I can tell MM from which folders to create a library.

Probably due to startup scan settings at File > Add/rescanLorena wrote:Well, I've deleted de mm.db file. When starting up MM it still monitors and adds folders that I don't want. Re: Can't delete Library
For the Add/Rescan I have some options chosen in Extra > Options > Library > Filemonitor.
I have unchecked continuous scanning and scan at the start (in the file monitor). I have marked the folders I want to be in MM. But still it scans some folders, even if they are unmarked.
I want only 3 folders to be scanned and in the library. In the meantime I have deleted 2 folders (with pictures that have nothing to do with music). So these are out of MM. But still there are 2 folders (with music files) that I do not want in MM-library.
I have to close my computer now, but tomorrow I will look into it again .. goodnight ..

Re: Can't delete Library
Again, probably because you've marked some folders to be "scanned at startup". Look at the icons next to the folders in File > Add/rescan. If there is something other than a regular folder icon, you have some folders marked for a startup scan (eg scan when the program opens).Lorena wrote:For the Add/Rescan I have some options chosen in Extra > Options > Library > Filemonitor.

Re: Can't delete Library
After experimenting quite a bit I found out what to do and now it's okay.
I thought I had to "mark" (to put a "v" in front of) the 3 subfolders. But since I specifically told MM to scan at startup each subfolder that I specified the icons appeared that you talked about. So finally the problem is solved. MM does not scan anymore folders that I don't want. Still emptying the library is impossible, but there is no need for this anylonger.
Thank you very much for your help and perseverance.

You can always delete the actual database file: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=17
