Send to S24

Post by hoges in wa »

HI.
I want to refresh my car playlist so I removed the current tracks in my MM on my phone. Now I want to put a new playlist on it. Playlist is created and runs fine on my PC. My Windows MM is the latest version, updated yesterday on prompt.
My Samsung S24 appears in the left-hand side list of devices. However, Send To does NOT show the S24 even though it is attached. I cannot transfer any files to it.
Can someone try to guess what I am doing wrong? MM on my phone is the free version - I have a Lifetime license on my MMW.
Probably something dumb I can't see so if someone could point it out I'd be grateful.

Can you browse the phone in File Explorer? If you not you may need to set the USB connection on the phone to file transfer or MTP.

Yes I can. But it's weird. It shows up on my PC running Windows 11 even after I pull the plug. Even after I restart? But it won't show up on my MM device list.

Make sure you can approach it via USB. It sounds like you may have some wireless sharing setup.

I have fixed it. I put the files on a microsd. Then I used a usb carrier (looks like a Shuriken) plugged directly into the phone and transferred the files to the folder I wanted. I have no earthly idea why that is the only what it would work. To my mind, plugging a usb into the phone connected to my pc transferring the same files from a folder on my desktop is exactly the same but then IT gurus were involved in designing this so who knows?
Thanks for helping.

Often you need to change to USB connection to File Transfer. This is a security feature as otherwise it's really easy to steal your files via USB.

Note: your best best for getting tracks from MMW to your phone is to use MMA's Wi-Fi sync functionality. With that you can set up a playlist of e.g. 500 tracks rated 3.5 stars + that haven't been played in the past month. That way each time you sync that playlist, the tracks on the device will automatically update.
