My playlist will not obey the rules set

I have about 8k music files and I want a playlist that can play randomly without the genres of "Xmas" or "Classical" as there are only specific times when I want to hear these files. I have tried writing these instructions into a couple of playlists but whilst it looks right, they do not work, and play anything. I had created a seperate drive for classical but thought after the upgrade that playlists would work now. Am I wrong?
