Streamlining my opening screen (Favorite nodes addon)

Post by gimmeagig »

Hi I just switched over to the ver5 of MM. But now I have Win 11 and I had to make the switch to ver5.
I have my collection organized on my harddrive in folders by style and the App "Favorite Nodes" allowed me to access these folders directly from withing the program. I can't find that app for MM5.
The pane on the left of MM5 is super cluttered, showing every folder and subfolder I have on my laptop..
I cannot delete all these Folders which are completely unrelated to my music collection. Because if I delete a folder it does not just delete it from view in MM5, it actually deletes it from my harddrive. Like I was in explorer. That does not help me.
Does anybody here have any suggestions how I can streamline this view so that I just have my Music folder visible with all my subfolders I created (only 8 of them for different styles of music)? I would like to see this Music Folder plus the playlists.
Can you tell me if there is a way to achieve this?
I do not want to see every folder I have on my laptop in the opening view of MM5.
Thank you

Folders shows you're whole PC, Location instead shows what's in the MediaMonkey Library. You can also Pin folders.

In Location my music files are way down in the tree, requiring all these nodes to be open first
Home/Music/Location/c:/Users/Owner/Music/MP3
That creates so much clutter. I liked MM4 with the favorite nodes so much better.
I followed your hint and pinned a couple of nodes. What now? How do I find them?
I also have a couple of external drives hooked up to my laptop. All of that just clutters my screen without any benefit to me.
It would be so much better if I could just delete the items in the tree without getting rid of them alltogether. That's why I asked if there is a way to streamline this thing.

So not sure I understand totally what you are looking for, but the following gives you a minimal tree with access to all folders containing music.

First, you drill down in the location node until you get to the actual main folder containing your music, and pin that. Unpin everything else you may have pinned to keep it clean.

Then, you open only the pinned node, and click on the "Music" folder. This should now display all and only your music folders.

Under options, library, collections and views, you can uncheck any nodes you don't want to see, so you can have only those you want ie playlists.
Using V2024 LATEST alpha or beta build on Windows 11, HP laptop, managing 13k tracks
