this is the 3rd or 4th time i seen something like this about amazon.

they keep changing something i think and making jiri or rusty or peke work harder at fixing the script that monkey uses.

but they will get it fixed again. 8)

This is a problem caused by your computer or your connection or your internet service provider or the remote Amazon server.
The problem certainly isn't because Amazon changed something to their service, as RC thinks. It's a settings or connection problem.

The greatest chance is that the problem is on your side.

Things to check:
- Is a firewall, overactive anti-virus, ... blocking MM's connection?
- Does the normal internet work?
- Check to make sure that MM's connection settings (proxy) are correct.
- ...

Maybe Amazon's service is down for the moment. Check back a bit later to see if it works then.

If that doesn't work, maybe you'll find an answer in posts that have been made here in the past (forum search).

Cheers

you might have guessed my first reaction is to blame the other software and not the one i am using. or / the computers.

so it is normal to say it is amazon for me. but it very likely is the clogged internet pipe again. amazon is a very popular place it does tend to need a plummer with a plunger every now and then to clear the pipe.

History repeating itself, RovingCowboy?: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... cket+error

Extra things to check:
- If your connection is too slow (e.g. you are using it for a lot of other things), you can get timeout errors.
- AdMuncher seems to be the crappy software that has caused these kind of errors a lot in the past, so disable it, set MM as exception, or get rid of AdMuncher
- If it still doesn't work, then try after restarting MediaMonkey
- If it then still doesn't work, try after restarting your computer

Is there a router/firewall/... in the way for a good connection?
Maybe try with another site of Amazon (us, gb, fr, de, ...) that you can select from the options button.

If Internet Explorer works correctly, then you can use these proxy settings (in case you didn't know them)

BTW: The error codes are standard codes for Windows' internet connectivity (not from Amazon, not from MediaMonkey.... but from Windows)

If you are using Ad Muncher then the problem has been fixed.

23664/F - Improved handling of GetPeerName patch to avoid erroneous results if
called within a few milliseconds of connecting. This fixes a conflict
with MediaMonkey.

You can download the fixed version here:

Having issues with Auto-Tag from Amazon;

Using Windows Live OneCare
I have tried to configure mediamonkey in OneCare firewall area to be allowed, but still get this error:
Couldn't show results: Socket Error # 10013 Access denied.

I can turn off firewall entirely and it works fine, just wondering if there is a way to configure correctly to work without having to go into OneCare turn off and then back on when updating tags and album art.

Is there a specific port that can be opened?

thx

I haven't used OneCare so this is a guess.

You need to allow MediaMonkey to access the internet. That means that MediaMonkey.exe needs to have these permissions. Normally firewalls have a list of programs which you set to allow or disable internet access. You might need to manually add MediaMonkey. If ports are involved I assume it would be port 80 which is used for http traffic.

I've tried both .. have mediamonkey.exe enabled to access internet and opened port 80 for it yet still have issues... note also have issues when trying to rip cd and it want to check freedb.org.. ah well I will deal with turning off then back on for now.

thanks for assistance low...

Socket Error # 10061 Connection refused

Post by avz10 »

I have just installed the latest version and now cannot connect to the internet. It gives me "Couldn't show results: Socket Error # 10061 Connection refused"

I opened Windows firewall, deleted all the existing MMs and added the new one. It still gave me the same answer. I use Avast as my antivirus program, but am not sure where to change settings there. Could that be the problem, or any other programmes which might block access?

Minilyrics also does not want to open. This previously worked well

Any advice please?

I am having a monologue here!

I now tried to connect to the internet, using the web nodes e.g amazon, allmusic, etc and they can make contact; but when I click on the Tools-Auto-tag from web, it gives me the error message.

Hope this helps- for me it means that my internet connection is intact, but something is blocking access when I click that 'tools' button.
