2 things.

1. Have you installed the latest MonkeyTunes from our website that fixes this issue? version 1.2.2?

http://melloware.com/download/

2. If you need to try it just run Start->Porgrams->MonkeyTunes->Uninstall.

Hello,
OK, now I know what MonkeyTunes is! but I'm a little confused.

In a previous post, it was reported that MonkeyTunes might be a cause of the problem. Are you saying that installing MonkeyTunes would solve the problem? I never installed it.

Reading the description from the monkeyTunes Web site, I don't need the functionality offered by MonkeyTunes. I'm using the Sonos music system in my house.

The only thing left is to disable the start-up scan. Can someone tell me where that is done?

Thanks,
Matthew

Oh no, if MonkeyTunes was never installed then you have a different problem not related to our problem.

Melloware,
Thanks for the explanation!

OK, I just checked the Options > File Monitor area of MediaMonkey, and under where it says "Monitor Selected Folders for Changes:" I don't have antything listed. So it looks like i don't have "Start-up Scan" running.

So that rules out another possible cause.

I'm stuck! I really want to use MediaMonkey (even willing to move up to Gold) but I cannot even make it function at all.

Thanks,
Matthew

hi, how many tracks are in 'now playing' ?

if you try to load a huge number (your entire library for example), then it can take a very long time as the now playing list is store in a mediamonkey.m3u file (I think it has to do with winamp compatibility) and MM will read that on startup, and obviously if its very large it takes awhile.

instead of loading your entire library into now playing, try to use 'auto-dj' function.

Hello,
I don't have anythying in the "now playing" area.

But I did notice one thing. This evening, I uninstalled the Norton Antivirus beast that got installed with my new computer, and suddenly MediaMonkey works better. It still takes about five few minutes, which is better.

But now there's another issue. When I try to burn a CD after selecting an album's tracks, MediaMonkey freezes and I have to use the task manager to close it.

Sorry about introducing a new issue!

Thanks for your help, and I just know I'll get this working eventually.

Tools | Options| file monitor ... double click the "start up scan?" column entry for that folder, and in the resulting drop list, select NO.
The other things is to remove monkeyTunes. how do I do that?
Have you read in the add-ins forum for suggestions on disabling/uninstalling add-ins?

davidbspalding,
Thanks for the reply.

I've figured this out now, and I have MediaMonkey working great!

I contrinued having trouble with iTunes, and could not get any help from Apple, so I naturally made the transition and now I'm happy.

My only need for iTunes now is to update the firmware in my iPods and to update apps.

Thanks again,
Matt

Add me to the list of problems. I am not running Monkey Tunes or any scripts. I do have a large database, 30,000+ but I have had this size for many months and it just started happening. Even when I click on a folder with only 8 songs, it keeps stating READING TRACKS...
I have Gold v3.2.0.1294. I am running Windows 7 with an iCore7 950 @3.07GHz with 12GB RAM so I doubt my computer is the problem. I am running 64bit OS but I believe this installed as 32 bit. Music is on my C 1TB Drive, same as MediaMonkey.

Help!
One other thing to try. In your MediaMonkey folder rename the d_iPhone.dll to d_iPhone.dll.old and same with d_iPod.dll and restart. That DLL was causing me to hang up and since I don't sync with iPhone/iPod I renamed it.

And try to create a debug log as described in the Bug Report forum so the developers can maybe see what's happening.

It happened to me too. I don't know what caused the error, but I checked Task Manager and there were multiple MM processes and I couldn't terminate them. When I clicked end process it did nothing. So I restarted my PC and it was normal again.

Hope that can help.
