MM 24 Beta requires different driver?

Post by MaloneRainja »

Downloaded and ran both versions of the MM 24 (debug and other) and my screen is vitrually unreadable. The symbols are tiny and half of the names of tracks, artists, albums etc. that normally show up on the screen are just black. Icons appear and dissapear when I move the cursor, and no album covers are displayed. Am I missing a driver or something for this new version of MM?

Edit: I've reverted back to MM 5 now and it's functioning normally but I'm back to my iPhone being read only. ios 18 is preventing me from adding audio files to the phone.

Which Build of MediaMonkey 2024 did you install? It should look basically the same.

Did you install on top of the existing MediaMonkey 5 install or as a separate install? Can you do a separate Portable Install and if so, does it seem to look normal to you?

These two most recent test builds. MMW 2024 Debug build: https://www.mediamonkey.com/beta/MediaM ... _Debug.exe
MMW 2024 non-debug build: https://www.mediamonkey.com/beta/MediaM ... 0.3066.exe

Tried one, then the other. Same visual issues on the screen. Do I need to delete MM 5 first? What's a portable install?

Hi,

Re. a 'portable install', it's an installation that can be run portably i.e. off of a USB key. What makes it portable is that there aren't any connections between the application and the OS--that's why it can be run off of a USB key on one machine and then if the USB key is moved to another machine it can also be run. It's useful for testing because it allows you to do a clean install without using your existing settings and without affecting your existing installation.

To do a portable install, just enable the 'Portable' option during the installation process, and install it to a temporary directory.

So can you:
- let us know if a portable install helps?
- share an screencapture that illustrates what you mean?

Thanks!

Does renaming persistent.json to persistent.json.old and then starting MediaMonkey solve this?

I'm sorry. I don't think I know enough to follow all of your guys suggestions. I'm just an audiophile lol. I don't know much about programming or coding.

Just find the persistent.json file as described here: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... ini-files/

Rename it to anything else will do the trick or you can delete it. Then start MediaMonkey.

Hi,

Did renaming/deleting the old .json file solve the problem?

fyi, it's located at either of the following locations:
For a standard Windows 11 / 10 installlation:
%APPDATA%\MediaMonkey5\persistent.json

For a Portable installation:
In the ‘Portable’ subdirectory of the location to which MediaMonkey was installed. e.g.
<MediaMonkey Portable Install Folder>\Portable\persistent.json

Thanks!

I'm sorry but i looked in the program files and can't find persistent.json. I don't see anything called %AppData either. I looked in the registry too.

Pasting %APPDATA%\MediaMonkey5\ in the File Explorer address bar should take you there.

It probably is a full path of C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey5, where <UserName> is your windows logon.

Ok I found persistent.json but I think it's from a previous install. Should it be in the MM24 database?

Ok visually it's better but I still can't read track names. That's all blacked out.
