Column Fields, Global vs Tab-Specific

Post by KEP »

Just (finally!) updated to 2024.1 from MM4 during a computer migration. The migration went far more smoothly than I anticipated from past updates! Lovin' it. But there are some first impression annoyances, of course. ;)

Biggest irritation at the moment is the default fields in the main panel. If I have a set of fields I'd like to see, can I establish them as the default fields for all (or new) tabs? Say I always want to see: Track#, Title, Length, Artist, ... rather than whatever the default is. How do I (Can I?) change that?

Thanks!

You can't, MediaMonkey remembers last used instead.

Hey Lowlander! You're still here, huh? Been years and years, it seems, since I last tried to figure out a new version. :)

Seems unfortunate to base a new tab's settings on last used rather than a default, but knowing that's the case I guess I'll have to adapt.

Thanks...

You can create custom layouts, and this helps somewhat, but last I tried it, you can accidentally modify the custom layout by chnaging something while it is applied.

Also, sadly last I tried, a custom layout is not available in all nodes, and does not retain a fixed sort order, even if you set it.

I guess I should try it again, and see if all this is still true....
