Playlist Duration Calculation Incorrect on Large Libraries

Post by alinathomas322211 »

MediaMonkey for Windows 2024 (Version: 2450.0.1 Beta)

Operating System: Windows 11 Pro 23H2

Description of the Bug:
The total duration displayed for a large playlist (or for the entire library when viewed in the "Music" node) is sometimes calculated incorrectly. It shows a duration that is significantly less than the actual sum of all tracks.

Steps to Reproduce:

Have a library with over 50,000 tracks.

Create a new playlist and add a large number of tracks (e.g., 5,000+).

Look at the total duration displayed for the playlist in the footer status bar or in the playlist panel.

Compare this to the actual calculated duration if you select all tracks (Ctrl+A) and check the status bar.

Expected Result:
The total duration for the playlist should be the accurate sum of all individual track durations.

Actual Result:
The displayed duration is often off by dozens or even hundreds of hours. The discrepancy seems to grow larger with the size of the playlist/library.

Additional Information:
This appears to be a UI refresh issue. Sometimes, if I switch away from and back to the playlist, the number will correct itself. The issue is intermittent but occurs frequently.

I've attached a screenshot showing the discrepancy. The status bar for the selected 5,200 tracks shows "50:12:45", but the playlist's own footer shows "17:34:22".

Thank you for your hard work on the new version!

I see no such problem on the latest MediaMonkey 2024.2 beta, not sure what build you're using, it seems outdated. You may want to retry with the latest 2024.2 build to see if the issue is still present for you.
