I just noticed to my chagrin, if I select Duplicate Songs, I was scrolling thru the list and since normally you can use CTRL to select single items from each set of duplicates, I could go thru and select 50 and then delete them, so I could move thru the list fairly efficiently. However, when I did this, instead of 50 titles it said 100. So I tried an experiment and i just selected one title, and it indicated 1 selected, but if I did CTRL - and selected a title, it said 2 selected, and if I hit Delete it would erase both the title I selected AND the one I wanted to keep.
Is this a bug or a feature? It would mean I would need to individually delete entries, going thru the "Yes I want to Delete" window every time, which would significantly slow me down.
I'm dealing with an issue some people have reported in the past, there mysteriously a lot of their music duplicates itself, with different Tags that affect the Song Titles. (ie: turning "1 MySong.mp3" into "Black Sabbath - 01 - 1 - MySong.mp3". Now that's done it's done, I want to delete the duplicates.
Also if anyone has used Clone Files Checker - is it worth the money if you have about a thousand mysterious duplicates to deal with.

Re: CTRL vs Shift to select duplicate to delete
I am using MediaMonkey 5.0.5.2695, it has all the features I need right now and I've rarely had an issue with it until the mystery duplicates which I am trying to delete. I had upgraded to the latest but it wanted me to buy it again, so I may wait another upgrade before moving forward.
By tabs, I assume (maybe incorrectly), I am using Files To Edit and then selecting Duplicate Content and just allowing it to run until it has selected the duplicate songs by their signature.
If anything else helps, I have under Options-Library-Tags&Playlists, I have everything checked *except* "Modify timestamp when updating tags" and "Create Playlists of tracks newly added to Library"
For MetaData Lookup i have Replace existing Information set,
I used to have Auto-Organize set to Automatically organize files, but I turned it off, but havent imported any new music the last few weeks.
I have no Addons that would complicate (or simplify) things.
Thanks.

Do you have a 5.x or Lifetime License? Support can help with a License upgrade path, if needed.
Please update to MediaMonkey 2024 ad this may already be resolved, or straight to MediaMonkey 2024.2 beta as we'll suggest that to troubleshoot if the issue is still present.
