Unable to open properties

Post by jimmync »

When I right click on a track, I get a very small image that includes only "Open URL" with "[arrow] Send to" underneath; cannot open full menu or scroll down to properties. Likewise, when I click on Help on the tool bar, all I get is a very small image that reads: "? Help C" with "On-line" below and that's it. Can't scroll down to anything else.

I've uninstalled and re-installed numerous times. Windows 11. How can I fix this?

Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey do you have installed. Presumably you can't see this though, in that case please install the latest 2024.2 build.

As far as Properties goes, are you sure you're using right click on a media file in the MediaMonkey Library?

Appreciate the response! Correct, I can't scroll down to Help>About. I've got the version that was downloaded from the website last week 2024.1.0.3113

The 2024.2 build does not appear to be available on the Download page. Are you suggesting that I download 2024.2.0.3175 RC-2 from the 2024 Test Builds page? I've not used Test Builds before.

I was referring to a right click on a file shown in the bottom pan, definitely a MM file. When I right click on a file listed in the main panel library list, I get a larger menu that displays nine lines (from Play Now down to Copy) but no further, so I can't get to properties that way either. Also, that menu is truncated on the right side so that "Find more fr" ends there at: "fr".

Yes, it's nearly a final release at this point.

OK, I've installed that Build. Unfortunately, that does not solve the problem.

Can you please detail what Text Size, Scale and Custom Scaling settings you're using in Windows, and which Skin in MediaMonkey?

Yes, happy to do so. I appreciate your effort on this. Scale is set at 100%, no custom scaling, text is at 148%.

What if you bring text back to 100%, does it resolve the issue?

I'm not seeing an issue with Make text bigger set to 150% on 2024.2 and with Flat Monkey. Did you also set a custom text size in the Flat Monkey Skin setting?

Can you rename persistent.json to persistent.json.old and start MediaMonkey again. Does this issue persist?

Hi,
Common consumption is that Text Scaling witll improve visual representation of TEXT.

Reason for that is because Text Scaling is on OS level designed for Accessibility (eg. as visual aid), which is designed that apps do not detect scaling value eg. instead of text size user should change scaling size (DPI Size) not FONT Size as that will still force same DPI with larger text only.
FYI 100% (96 DPI) is the default scaling level in Windows 10. Other scaling levels are 125% (120 DPI), 150% (144 DPI), and 200% (192 DPI) which is more relevant to Screen size + resolution than size of elements eg. 8k 85" display and 8k 55" display (where scaling 150% seems more reasonable as there is is much more DotsPerInch than on 85" screen with same resolution.

Use phone with smaller screen resolution and change text size to the largest which will crop most of text on screen and distort whole screen view in most cases and designed UI arrange and scale will be ugly and unusable.

I tested on Win 10 using Settings -> Display -> Advanced Scaling settings -> 171% no issues.
