Meta data sync inconsistent

Post by ReneO »

Hi folks,

I am new to media monkey but it seems like it could be perfect for me.
I want to use it to manage my music library from a windows laptop. I spend some time ranking my collection of roughly 9000 files and preparing dynamic playlists in Mediamonkey for windows and it is working as it should for as far as i can see.

Now, i want to sync the Library and playlists to my Android device which is an iBasso dx340 player (have media monkey for android - paid version).
When i sync it, it does transfer all and i can play it on the iBasso. Playlists are also there (but no longer dynamic, but thats okay... I only wanna sync from pc to player, not the other way around).

However; in over 90% of the files the meta data is incomplete. Almost all file are missing artist and rating data in media monkey for android. Some of the album art is messed up as well, but for most it is fine.

Ive done it a couple of times. Even some factory resets on the ibasso - but the result is always the same.
I find it qeird that some files do show correctly... But those are only a handfull.

Weirdest part is that when i scan the library on the iBasso with the preinstalled Mango player they do show correctly... Everything is there (except rating - which i believe is not supported by that app). So that pretty much confirms the meta data was confirmed correctly, or not? Its just not showing up in the mediamonkey for android player.

Does anyone have any idea what could cause this? And with what settings could i fiddle around to try and fix it?

Which Build (Help > About) of MMW are you using and did you do a USB or wi-fi Sync? Also what File Type(s) are the files in MMW?

Check the Music > Files to Edit > DB / Tag Mistmatches node in MMW, does it seem to list a lot of you files?

I can check build etc later (not at home right now)
Im syncing via USB (cant get wifi to work either, but i havent tried extensively).
The vast majority is mp3, but there are also quite some FLAC and M4a files there. It does not seem specific for a file type though. I will check the thing you mentioned when i have acces to my laptop again. Thanks.

the build is
2024.2.0.3184 (gold)

The DB / tag mismatches are 971 files (around 10% of my library). the files missing meta data on the ibasso is a much much higher number of tracks though... .something like 7000

What does DB / tag mismatches actually show?
I did some meta data by hand - not with auto tagging since it messed up or didnt reckognize some tracks
(also because some of the tracks are my own music - which isnt published anywhere)

Files where db and tag values don't match. Tools > Edits tags > Synchronize Tags can be used on those files to save the MediaMonkey database values (what you see in MediaMonkey) to the files.

allright, i played around with that a little and it seems it has something to do with what you suggested.
i did the whole sync tags thing an re-synced the device again and it is definatly showing more correct info now. it is still busy processing a bunch of stuff and its going slow and i am not sure if all my issues are fixed, but we'll see.

thanks so far!

Just a quick follow up;

Problem is finally fixed.
Syncing tags via the DB / tag mismatches tab fixed some but not all.
But when i selected my entire library and did sync tags again, and synced again it seems to have fixed everything.

Not entirely sure why, or how this works, but its fixed. So thank you a lot!
