Wired Sync for FLAC files
I have noticed that FLAC takes longer when doing a WiFi sync from MMA. I wanted to connect a wire [USB-C] cable and start the sync from my PC with MM5 installed. Could not figure it out. I just assumed the wired sync would be much faster.
EDIT: Oops. The USB-C cable got disconnected from the PC.

Re: Wired Sync for FLAC files
The desktop PC is 6 years old. My S24+ phone probably has a much faster WiFi than the PC. Would it be worth it to add a thumb drive USB internet to it as a try to speed things up during a WiFi sync?
Re: Wired Sync for FLAC files
You have 2 bottlenecks, the speed of transfer between MMW PC and MMA device, and how fast the storage is. With upgrading wi-fi on the PC, you need to make sure that your home wi-fi can handle the faster connection, otherwise you need to upgrade it too.
Note that wired for the PC is the best.

Comcast internet, S24+, I thought the 6 year old PC would be the drag?

Re: Wired Sync for FLAC files
I also had problems with the speed of the sync of flac between my wired PC and phone/tablet with MMA on Wifi. This week I found out that you can connect an Android device wired to the network. I already have some years an Eminent 1017 Gigabit ethernet --> USB connector. I added a small USB --> USB C connector and my Android device worked without any problem as a wired device!
When I sync from my Win11 PC to my wired Android devices I now reach an average speed of 150 Mbps speed, as shown by the Win11 performance dashboard (large, 24/96 files).

Re: Wired Sync for FLAC files
[a bit off-topic here] My S24+ has a USB-C connection for both power and data. So, I should be getting a very fast data transfer because the PC has one USB-C port.
EDIT: I connected my S24+ via USB-C cable to PC USB-C cable. But, I must have screwed up the settings. It seems as if all files are being synced rather than just the music files that were added/changed. As it syncs, I am checking the files/folders on the S24+. It seems all the folders there are getting dated today, but not the music files themselves?

Re: Wired Sync for FLAC files
Also, I thought a wired USB-C sync would be very fast. This took a long time. Ultimately, I just wanted to do whatever happens during a WiFi [which I am used to] Sync. That did not happen.
Re: Wired Sync for FLAC files
You need to start a Sync in MMW if you want to do a USB Sync.
It sounds like a different Sync is happening, either Samsung or Windows doing a device backup or something similar.

On my S24+, I had to change the USB options for my S24+ from Charge only to "some kind of data transfer" in order for the Sync button in MM5 to be accessible [instead of greyed out].

Yes, this is a safety feature so someone can't connect to your phone and take all your info.

I need to make sure it is a USB-C sync from MM5 to MMA. I know if properly configured it is very fast. [@Peke uses Anydesk which I don't have and can't afford] Remote help is the best.

[To help with my confusion] You recommended a Wired Sync in MM5->MMA. Can you you provide a list of things check/uncheck before I try to do another one?
Re: Wired Sync for FLAC files
Same settings at wi-fi Sync, there is no one size fits all when it comes to Sync settings.

Sync List (Library --> Device) I have "Music" checked on the left. So, what about the right-hand side?
NOTE: I want the S24+ to reflect the music in MM5. If I add/modify/delete on MM5 I want this reflected on the S24+.

Re: Wired Sync for FLAC files
Hi,
If you you have checked Music On the left side, then Right side is not editable because Check on left side means ALL Music so change on right side will not change anything. By Unchecking Music you will get to fine tune it on right side. That applies for every option on left side.TheEmpathicEar wrote: ↑Tue Feb 10, 2026 5:27 pm https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... edia_Files

Usually it is only needed to Check Left Side and then MMA should get all tracks from MMW. If you really want to Mirror MMW -> MMA Changes you should also enable Delete other option too. Please note by default non MMW synced tracks will not be deleted unless you select to delete them also during sync (downside is that it will increase time to sync as it will compare media content on MMA with tracks on MMW on each sync and will delete difference.TheEmpathicEar wrote: ↑Tue Feb 10, 2026 5:27 pm NOTE: I want the S24+ to reflect the music in MM5.
