Why does library sync take so long?

I've recently had a bunch of phone issues and had to reinstall mma many times...my question is why does it take so long to scan my library on my SD card every time I reinstall? I've got about 40k songs and it takes over 12 hours each time I reinstall. I recently tried Gone mad player, and it only takes 20 minutes to do the exact same thing. Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? For reasons outside of my control, I will heed to do this at least two more times in the next week or do.
