hi! I just discovered Media Monkey thanks to the LAME site and I can't believe I haven't seen it around more, it's awesome! Thanks you guys muchly!
I already have one small feature request though... I noticed another request some time ago for different icons for each type of file. I think maybe this would be a good idea, but I would settle for TWO file types and icons: one for media files, as in all the files that contain actual sound data, the other for playlist files such as m3u files.
Also if you are not going to generate different file types (as in "MediaMonkey MP3 file", "MediaMonkey OGG file", "MediaMonkey WMA file" etc, it might be a good idea to include a script or instructions in the install for un-hiding file extensions. In Windows, file extensions are (stupidly IMO) hidden by default, so an un-savvy user (ie the majority) would suddenly see all MM associated files as just MediaMonkey files and unable to tell the difference between them.
Just a thought...
defining file types and icons...

FYI: What you want is (going to be) possible with TweakMonkey.
Extensions: ExternalTools, ExtractFields, SongPreviewer, LinkedTracks, CleanImport, and some other scripts (Need Help with Addons > List of All Scripts).

okay...
I was suggesting that it be available by default with mediamonkey, for the sake of user-friendliness.
I can tweak it to my heart's content without an extra program using the method outlined in the topic I mentioned, I was thinking more for the average ignorant user, as in the majority, who probably wouldn't want to download an extra program either just to be able to tell what file type is what.
It occurs to me that irfanview, a very small, lightweight and fast program for viewing and editing photos, has a file type associating function that works the way I describe - it makes a different file type for each different type of file you associate with it - "Irfanview JPG file", "Irfanview GIF file" etc.

Well, now it's possible with TweakMonkey (see my signature).
I don't think that this will be implemented in MM natively very soon (as it can easily be done through scripting).
