Thread creation error

Post by aidan_cage »

For a long time now, but not enough to make me seriously upset, because the music will keep playing, I have been eventually getting a long string of small windows that pop up and descend down my screen in a diagonal pattern to the right
they say "Thread creation error:"
then one will come up saying "Out of resources"
and then I have to exit the program from the taskmanager
I haven't seen any posts on this, but I have been realizing that this is usually how I end up exiting the program every time
I am running 2.5.5.996
and I switched back to this one because I found something wrong with 998, or at least I have a blurred memory of something going wrong
I am thinking of getting into the alpha game, but am not sure yet
could it be a script thing?
or could there be a quick fix for this? ;)

PEACE - Tristan

you are getting the same error i found 3 years ago just different message alerts.

look around for "canvas can not draw" that might help you see how old your error is.

just what is going on i seem to still get that same error in mm 2.5.5.998

i think it is something to do with the database not correctly closing out the swap file? not sure on that but something that has been doing this for me on that win 98 for so long and its been in every version of mm since mm 2.1 or so.

this time i was able to cause it in mm 2.5.5.998 by just checking the artist nodes and reading all the songs they have.
when i got to the letter R , they (them little alerts) popped up and said canvas can not draw. and i had to close down the mm by the task manager again. that is just how it happend this time. most the time i get the same thing when i try to edit lots of info on lots of songs. i only get about 30 songs edited then it crashes again when i type one too many letters.

but that is the same thing your getting. if you are still on win2 k or other 9x system you will still get this error. i don't know what system you have but your alerts are reading different than what the win98 alerts do, for this same error.

crappy

Post by aidan_cage »

I'm on XP, but yeah
if I leave it for too long, it seems to do it too
If I'm playing some music, and I switch back to MediaMonkey to see what's up
bam
problems
I'd like to think this is the major flaw in the otherwise perfect software
I could live in MediaMonkey, if not for needing the taskmanager to bail me out when it all falls down

yep the help is in going to the new database in mm 3.
mm 2 has trouble with updating the database for some reason.

on my win98 it always causes partition errors when i add music or when i edit too many songs. so i am always running a disk repair program on the win98.

but i can't find any program for winXp.

but the new mm 3 database should be one to fix the error.
still not sure on it as there seems to be lots of people having trouble updating their new beta database.?

still it is beta 1 so they got lots of time to get it fixed.

by the way i went and did a search for " canvas does not allow drawing "

this is the oldest message about this trouble i can find.

thanks
I just thought I'd get a picture up
I am anxious to dive into MM3, but I'm worried I won't find the zen I have with my current set up in MM2.5
I'll get there soon

thread creation error

Post by MzKzM »

mine does this 'thread creation error' trick aswell. usually when i've had the program turned on for a while.

i use mediamonkey 2.5.5.996 without any additional plugins, but i do have last.fm up and running.

it's really annoying, because this means i can't listen to music while lying in my bed (that popup-sound will eventually drive you crazy with it's infinite bleeps)

Try creating a debug log as described at the top of the Bug Report forum.

As for the error sound, this is a windows sound and can be turned off in your sounds configuration (via Control Panel).

@MzKzM
If you have/listen FLAC I suggest you to update to latest 2.5.5.998.

I don't have a single FLAC file, but I'll try updating to the newest version and see what happens

Okay, I've logged it now (I guess, I really can't see from that log). I'll try sending the log to the bugsupport team.

Me too... just downloaded the latest 3.0 release today, and getting tons of "thread creation error" messages (exactly as above)!

too small of system ram is my guess or you are trying to use a heavy skin on mm 3 when you are using mm 3 on win9x.

:-?
