"Unable to create directory" message

Post by shawn »

I am running MM Gold 3.1.0.1247. A strange thing started happening four days ago.

I have started seeing this notification alert pop up quite a lot. It looks like this:

Image

Here are the details of the circumstances under which the message appears.

(1) I am editing the properties of any track.
  • If editing track properties via right-click, Properties - the alert window appears as soon as I confirm changes (either by clicking Previous, Next, or OK)
  • If editing track properties "inline" via F2 - the alert window appears as soon as I confirm changes (either upon Tabbing to the next field, or pressing Enter)
(2) I am making any rating changes Image to any track, be it the one currently playing, or not.

Also important to note:
The track which is referenced in the alert window is always the track that is currently playing at the time, even if absolutely no changes were made at all to the track currently playing. Curiously, this behavior carries over into instances where there is no track playing. In the instance where no track is playing, the alert window still appears with identical predictably as I have described above, but the alert window instead references whichever track was played most recently. I can confirm this same behavior occurs regardless of whether I ceased playback using Pause or Stop.

I apologize for having been so long-winded with this post, but to aid in troubleshooting the problem, I wanted to make certain I was being both clear and comprehensive. Any and all help or insight is very much appreciated.

Upgrading to MM 3.1.0.1256 seems to have resolved this issue. Thanks.

Rather than create a new post, I'll use this one. I'm running into this error message when I try to install Trixmoto's Advanced Report script. I'm running 3.2.0.1294. I have MM opening in admin mode and have never had an issue with installing scripts in the past. I'm currently using Vista Home Premium.

Was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

Thanks for the help,
Kraig

p.s. I've tried re-installing MM as well. Didn't seem to help. Oh, and I've unblocked the mmip file in the properties.

Might want to post the error in the "Advanced report" thread.

Hi Again,

Sorry to be a pain. I'm back trying to install scripts on my x64 Win 7 system and am getting this error for every script I'm trying to install. It's really got me frustrated now that I can't use half the functionality that I love with MediaMonkey. Has anyone run into this? It can't be just me on 2 different systems.

Things I've tried:

Re-installing MM
Changing AV programs
changing permissions on the installers
Installing to both "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)" folders

Please, if you can help, I'll love you forever.

i think you have to run mediamonkey in admin mode when you install scripts on win 7. not sure but i've seen that answer a lot when dealing with windows 7.

right click the shortcut to start monkey and run it in admin mode i think that should fix your error. ? :-?

Hi Rovingcowboy,

Tried that. I have MM running as an admin and I've tried the same with the scripts. I've also tried running in compatibility mode with Vista and XP. I thought it might be a problem with my AV (AVG) cause it was blocking other installs, so I switched to Avast and still nothing.

It's almost like the mmip installer package is just unable to unpack. Is there a Manual way of doing this?

Thanks,
Kraig

yes you can check with the script's author on how to install the script the old way with out the mmip being used.
