Just lost an entire PC file folder because of MMW5

Re: Just lost an entire PC file folder because of MMW5
Well, I drag one or more tracks onto MMW (Music node) from Windows Explorer. MMW then proceeds to move THE ENTIRE FOLDER into MMW regardless of what else is in there. This is wrong.

Hi,
If you set Auto-Organize monitor on Music node and folder you drag and drop then it triggers scan of whole folder. This especially true if scan on start is not enabled then it triggers in folder change.
Just to be sure I tried to drag and drop track from Explorer to music from non monitored folder and it just added that track to MM library, if I do that on monitored folder (startup scan disabled) then it trigger for whole folder which is correct due the fact Windows send folder changed flag to MM.

Re: Just lost an entire PC file folder because of MMW5
I've tried with "auto organize" off. It then copies, not moves, the items I am dragging onto MMW.
What I want it to do is to take the files I am dragging onto MMW and only those files and move them into MMW. Remove those from the source location and leave any other files alone. There are no "associated files".

Hi,
Then the best would be to set Auto Organize to separate dedicated folder and just simply use File explorer to move file there.
Here is How I set things up:
- Pinned special folder named "To check metadata" which is Monitored on startup and continuously
- Move Files there using File Explorer
- MM Add them and I check them, tag ...
- Select All tracks and Drag and drop to second folder that have Auto-Organize -> Playlist thru One Auto Playlist that contain only criteria PATH so that only those files are organized.
It needs time to setup, but once done it works perfectly.

Use the manual Auto-Organize Files in that case, it will ask you to move associated files.
Or have the files added to an empty folder instead, so that you can use the background Auto-Organize and no associated files get moved.
