Hi,
I can't replicate.

Are you sure that on MM rescan track is updated? For me if I follow your steps
Image
1.Scanned Folder in MM with one file
2. Synced that file to MMA
3. Edited in WAVOSAUR -> Silence
4. Exported silenced file to MP3 same format (both file size and timestamp has changed). It overwrote original one.
5. Scanned folder again library updated (See pic above)
6. Started Sync -> one file downloaded.

Here is sample file I used.

Thanks Peke, I'll have to do some more testing and get back to you. Your steps are the same as I did earlier but I definitely couldn't get my updated file to resync even though it went from a normal music file to a silenced track of same duration with updated timestamp.

Will have a play around with it over the weekend and update you.

Sure, no hurry, I am starting to suspect that maybe we are missing some triggers for the issue.
It would be greate, if we can get to bottom of it and track it down if anyhow possible.

Well I've just tried the same steps you did:

1) Took a 320kbps mp3 in my library
2) Opened it in my audio editor (Ocen Audio) and muted the audio and resaved it, again as a 320kbps mp3
3) Checked the timestamp had updated and hit [Ins] to rescan the track back into MMW
4) Ran a sync to my phone

It didn't update or redownload the track on my phone during the sync and the old version was still on the phone (ie the audible music version and definitely not the muted/silenced one that is now on my PC).

But also it seems to have uncovered another bug as the muted/silenced version now won't play on my PC in when I double click it in MMW. When I try to play it in MediaMonkey, it instantly skips to the next track in the album and refuses to play (what should now be a minute long track of silence).

But if I go to the track in Explorer and open it in my audio editorI can see it's a 1 minute track of silence. Also if I double click the mp3 in Explorer it opens correctly in MMW and plays one minute of silence. But if I navigate to it directly in MMW and try to play it, it instantly jumps to the next track on the album and refuses to play it.

So not only is it not syncing an edited file, it also now refuses to play it in MMW.

More strangely, if I search for the muted track using the search box and try to play it from the search results, it refuses to play and skips to the next track. But if I navigate to it from a playlist that it's in, and then narrow it down to the artist using the column browser, it will play OK.

It's quite a tricky bug to replicate and not a common use-case but something definitely isn't working right for me after editing in an audio editor and rescanning into MM.

While I try to replicate muted track playing from explorer as MM behavior of skipping it is correct one eg. MM should not play and skip it if remove silence is enabled and you start playback of Silenced track.

Meantime can you please create full debug log with adding track to MM -> Do First Sync -> then replace track with muted one and re scan (That will show library update for track) and then resync. I created single playlist with that single track and set sync to sync only that playlist. you can also send MMA log after first sync and then after resync. That will give us both logs in sync to analyze.
