Yes. Install the last.fm-player and install the plugin mentioned in the thread afterwards.

I do not have - nor do I want - winamp

I have just joined Last.FM, but I've never used it.

Do I have to be continually connected to the Internet to use Last.FM with MM3.

To have the plugin add tracks to your profile, you need to be connected. The plugin will however cache the tracks when not connected and upload them once it can connect.

Ok, installed Lat.Fm software and overwrote the plugin with the old one. Seems to work well.

But is there any way to stop last.fm asking me to update every time I start MM3?

Oh that has been so bothersome!
I have previously poked around in the LastFm client to see if there was a "Check for update" feature to no avail.

Your question got me thinking about it again.

Went into the Last Fm program folder to see if the was an .ini file that could be modified.
Saw that there is an app in there called UpDater.exe. renamed it to Updater.exe.off.
Closed out of last FM & The Monkey. Reopened the Monkey and no LastFm upgrade screen.

I have tried all the tricks in this thread.
THis is pathetic.
Nothing works.

the plugins are Never listed under general.

I have tried:

gen_wa2_scrobbler.dll
ml_audioscrobbler.dll
ml_wa2_scrobbler.dll

Either from the installers, or copying them from winamp 5.5 folder.

Result: I have wasted several hours of my life.
Everything that has to do with MM is a struggle.

@urlwolf: Then you just did something wrong. By the way all ml-plugins doesn't work in MM so you don't even have to try that.

1. Download and install: http://www.last.fm/download/ (without installing a plugin for MM!)
2. Download this one: http://static.last.fm/plugins/ass/Winam ... 0.45.0.exe and be sure that MM is closed.
3. Run the downloaded file and when installing just change the folder to the plugins-folder in your MM-folder. Normally "c:\pogram files\MediaMonkey\plugins", but it also can be differerent.
4. Start MM and the plugin should be visible in the options under general plugings - although it can't be configured here! This has to be done in the last.fm-application which should start with MM. Chech the systray.

If you didn't do something wrong it should work.

I installed 1.1.10 which does not require the last.fm client for scrobbling. The plugin appears in MM's General Plug-ins section like this:

Once configured, I've had no problems with scrobbling.

Aaarrgghhhh!
This is driving me nuts!
I can get both the 1.1.10 and 2.0.45 winamps to Scrobble my MP3s to LastFM but it will not scrobble Audio CDs.
I have to use WMP to do this and it's a total pain as I hate using WMP!
Is there a known issue with the Scrobbling of Audio CDs to LastFM with MM and WinAmp plugins?
Is there a release of Media Monkey due anytime soon that will actually interface with LastFM properly without the need for dodgy WinAmp plugins?

Are you sure you have the drive selected to include in the plugin configuration? I do remember folks having problems scrobbling CDs long ago though I never did and I've since moved on to ripping all my CDs. I never use the drive as a CD player anymore.

Had a look at that and all drives are selected in the LastFM client.
Tried configuring the Include/Exclude option on 1.1.10 but that made no difference at all.
Re-installed 2.0.45.0 and still no joy!
I can't believe that something that is completely and utterly seemless and pain free with WMP is pile of crap in MM3!
Somebody please sort it out ASAP!

Don't think it's MM's issue but rather the Winamp plugin. As I said, there were reports long ago of CDs not scrobbling but since last.fm support is next to non-existent, I don't keep up with the support forums there anymore. Remember that WMP uses a completely different plugin altogether from the Winamp version.

That said, Peke is working on native scrobbling support for MM so have patience.
